I'm not familiar with Wood and Gorelick at all they seems to be a little inferior to Bailey, Ditko, and Stallman. Wow. First time I've ever heard someone not love Wally Wood. I actually expected to get heat for not making him my #1. Consider yourself to be very very warm!! Woody is number one in pretty much any crowd. |

Sekowsky did the first 70 or so issues of JLA and the Wonder Woman makeover in the 60s, plus lots of other stuff.

Despite getting the JLA assignment, Sekowsky never did his best work on superheroes. His guys in tights always look awkward and unprepossessing. Get him on a romance or adventrue story and he really shines (which is one reason so many DC characters he worked on during the 60s beame depowered).

Juggernaut's Initial Assessment - T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents
Least Favorite to Favorite
Notes: I just started to read this team a little over a year ago when Shaxper first introduce me to this team that was a part of Tower Comics and I'm just started to enjoy Wally Wood's work there and I later learned that this team is a part of DC Comics of which I was shocked to learn this. I just find this group very interesting and I will be reading the DC Comics Archives in a month from now getting all 7 Volumes of this team. I've borrowed a handful of comic books from friends from my LCS and we have been discussing it and I'll be sharing some of my thoughts of each of the members below.
Menthor - I'm having a hard time dealing with this character and later on I heard that he died of which it is a bummer for me; and now I understand that two agents wears the Menthor Helmet. I just don't like the Double Agent working with the Warlord and further complicates things.
Undersea Agent - Davy Jones is the Agent so his daughter Theresa and both wear the suit.
Vulcan - This Agent has the Sonic Powered and I really don't know much about him.
Raven - This Agent has a Rocket Pack and pretty soon might be a favorite of mine and this character is starting to grow on me.
Lightning - I love his costume and the concept of an Agent using the Lightning Suit that makes him older at an accelerated rate bothers me a lot and I just how this works out at the end of each mission. My question every time he wears the Lightning Suit does he gets older?
Dynamo - Agent with the Thunderbelt that gives him super-strength and invulnerable for a short period of time and he's the most dynamic of all the Thunder Agents and his off and on relationship with Iron Maiden is really spice things up in a very complicated fashion and that's makes it very unique and totally different.
NoMan - This is my favorite Agent and I just like the idea of a character that is dying and having an ability to transfer body to android body of his own design and quite flexible about it. On top of that he has a cloak that makes him invisible really makes him unique and different. He is quite versatile and the more I think about it - he like a cross of Negative Man of Doom Patrol and Invisible Girl of the Fantastic Four.
My Favorite Villain
Iron Maiden - She is cunning, smart, and I like her nickname "Rusty" and one of the complicated things about her is her relationship with Dynamo and these two have a history together and what makes her unique is her red hair. Marvel Girl is my favorite Redhead Superhero and now I have a favorite Redhead Villain and I have a huge fascination of Redheads in my world and that why I'm looking forward reading the 7 Archives of T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents later on in March when I get all DC Comics Archives.
That's why I made a new Avatar in my ever growing library of AVATARS for this site.
Iron Maiden is one of those villains is ever persistent and always a threat to the Thunder Team and that's makes her deadly.
I just wanted to share some of my initial thoughts on this Team and I just can't believe that I miss this for over 50 years!

Iron Maiden is essentially Wood's homage to Milton Caniff's Dragon Lady. Just as she was in love with Pat Ryan, Rusty is in love with Dynamo and switches allegiances often. This was copied endlessly in comics, with Spirit and P'Gel, Batman and Catwoman, Green Lantern and Harlequin, Airboy and Valkyrie and on and on. It was one of the more interesting elements of the THUNDER Agents, especially after those initial stories and the book starts to turn rather generic. She is the one villain that is truly fleshed out (nice flesh, too) rather than walking around with "evil" stamped on their mask. That is one of the weaknesses of the series, the villains. UNCLE had THRUSH, SHIELD had HYDRA, Bond had Bloefeld and SPECTRE (and the Goldfinger and the other maniacs); but, The Warlord wasn't quite a Doctor Doom or even Baron Von Strucker.

Not Brand Echh #2. It was a Marvel comedy mag in the vain of Mad magazine. It ran about a dozen issues and it had Parodies of many DC heroes , as well as , their own.
