I knew you were coming, I even posted in Rita's about it. I was busy as heck that weekend - went to a wedding and built new shelves in the garage.
And what's a vacation for but to have fun?

Of course. Granted it rain quite a bit, but I took advantage of every minute I was there. I loved going to OMSI.. such a cool place. Did a nice 25 mile bike ride around the town; eat and drank myself silly; Farmer's Market, Saturday Market. Listened to some jazz at Jimmy Mak's... good 4 days I was there

I got Simon and Garfunkel's Greatest Hits and Doors 13 about the same time in 1980 or 1981, and I used to listened to them all the time. I have Simon and Garfunkel's Greatest Hits on vinyl. It's in great shape too still has the plastic wrap. Neither of my vinyls players work at the moment though.

I got 3 things to say about Simon and Garfunkel They grew up in the same neighborhood as I, Forest Hills in the borough of Queens within New York City as did Peter Parker,Captain Kangeroo,The Ramones and a few more Secondly,I was told a few times that Art Garfunkel was a 2nd or 3rd cousin in the family.I was at a family wedding in the 80s and heard a few people saying that Art might show up. Nope, didn't happen. Thirdly,Paul Simon is one of the genius songwriters of the 20th century.

Please post frequently, Antoine. European comics are a weak spot for many of us, and I would love to be more educated on the subject. I was in Belgium recently and went to the comic book museum and was exposed to a wealth of great and famous artists I had just never heard of. I felt like such a novice. But so little gets translated into English. And Dizzy D, a forum member from the Netherlands, has expressed that he would love people to talk European comics with! I'm sure Roquefort Raider, another Canadian, would agree. I did pick up several comics in Belgium and Germany, in languages I don't understand, which I am intending to sit down and work my way through as best as I can muddle. Ok Coke, I'll try to post more... But you are right, Most of the books don'T make there way to english. Or at least they are not easily available. Of the top of my head, I'm thinking about Lincoln, Candélabre, Théodore Poussin that are all GREAT series that I've never seen in english. On the funnier side, Pauvre Lampil and Le Gang Mazda are some of my favorite "Sitcom" not available in english neither. The really popular series are probably available though.... Largo Winch (ok), Thorgal (good for the most), XIII (Excellent until they restarted it), etc.. Side note - Thorgal's artist was in Quebec City a couple weeks ago, Grzegorz Rosinski (I think he also drew a few captain america comics) and my brother when to get sketches in comics. It was free, as it ALWAYS is with Franco-Belge artist. That was a big shock when I went to my first comic-con, waited in line for 1h30 and then I saw it was something around 20$ to get an autograph (not even a drawing; if I remember correctly it was Chris Claremont). I of course didn't get it!

I discovered Simon and Garfunkel last summer and can't stop listening to them. I'm sure you like them! Am I getting on your good side now? You were never on my bad side, pal. Shortly after I got out of college, I received a phone call I will never forget. A good friend of mine had moved to New York to try to break into show biz and listed me as a personal reference on her resume. Thus one sunny fall afternoon, this exchange took place: "Hello?" "Hi, can I speak to Kurt please?" "This is Kurt." "Hi, Kurt, this is Paul Simon." "[scornful snort] Shyeah and I'm Art Garfunkel!" "[singing] I met my old lover on the street last night, she seemed so glad to see me I just smiled..." "Oh my god, Paul, I'm so sorry! I thought you were a friend of mine screwing with me!" "[chuckling] I get that a lot." We then proceeded to talk about my friend and why he should hire her. He didn't but, as it turned out, Art Garfunkel did. If nothing else, though, talking to him prepared me (a little) for the calls from Woody Allen and Jim Henson... Cei-U! I summon the name dropper!I knew I was not on your bad side! See, that's when I think my english i snot that good. I can't "joke" around as well as in French. PS - Your story is AMAZING! Listenig to "The Sound of Silence" as I type this

Oh, forgot to mention, I'm also peripherally involved with the Grand Comics Database, www.comics.org , so if you have any questions about the GCD I'll try to answer them. Which reminds me, I still need to get that info over to you about that Sonoma County Comix book I bought recently. It's around here somewhere, once I find it I'll send you a PM.

Hi, everybody! This is Rob (short for Robert) Allen. I'm 57, and started reading comic books in the autumn of 1963. By 1965 I was a Marvel zombie. In 1969 I wandered away for a couple of years but came back in '71 and by '74 I had branched out from Marvel to DC, Charlton, Red Circle, Warren, Skywald, undergrounds and National Lampoon. In May 1978 I graduated from college and not coincidentally, bought my last new comics. Six weeks later I got married and later that year I started working in business software support, which is what I still do. After a divorce, a cross-country move, and another marriage, I ended up in Oregon and looking for entertainment online, I found Tony Isabella's blog, which had a reference to Scott Shaw!'s Oddball Comics. I read the entire Oddball archive and only then ventured into the message board. From the Oddball board I quickly found Classics, and there I found my tribe. I've met a number of people IRL and I visit Kurt in Tacoma several times a year. I don't buy any current comics but I have been sampling lots of different things, like Bone and Love & Capes. Other interesting tidbits: - I was on Jeopardy! in 1994 (didn't win). - My wife is ten years older than I am and has a doctorate in human sexuality. - We haven't had a TV in over two years. - The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac are both OK, but the music I love is the Grateful Dead and jazz. - my signature here conforms to the specifications for a usenet signature circa 1990. Is your Jeopardy appearance available on youtube? It's one of my wife and I favorite show. Only thing we miss since we cut cable a couple years ago (and Soccer, but that's mostly(just) me...)

For those of you who don't know, I'm Rick Diehl. Longtime poster at CBR, and longtime secret double probation banned troublemaker as well. I'm 51 with three daughter, two granddaughters, a lovely wife and three very scary ex-wives who never quite go away. I am the primary bookbuyer and head of purchasing for an unnamed, though admittedly evil for profit university. Let me say that the CBR Classics Board was always my favorite board on the site. Community was fun for fighting, but for serious discussions about great comics the Classics board was the place on the internet to go. Loved the Music and Movies sites there as well, but guess the past is the past.

I have no idea, but that was a brilliant thought! It was broadcast in October 1994, on a Friday. If anyone finds it, please let me know!
