I just noticed that I am, what, the only girl here so far? Surely there are more ladies to be found that love classic comics as much as I do? I think Puma (Laura Whaley) is here but probably won't participate much. Cei-U! I summon the gender gap! It would appear that the gap was already there. You usually summon something that's not.

We need Jez here and soon. There is a complete gender imbalance here. We also used to have an occasional poster who went by, IIRC, Miss Fantastic, or something similar to that. What her posts lacked in quantity they possessed in quality, to my mind.

Disdain for Liefeld is pretty universal, I'm sure. It just doesn't get mentioned a whole lot because it's such a given, just as people in general don't go around remarking about their dislike of death, famine, pestilence, pain et al. You are around a lot of southern baptists aren't ya Dan. My three would have been Leann Rhymes cover of Purple Rain, scotch and mayo.

May I invite some people here? Hi, coldwater. Welcome to the new Classic Comics!
Good to see you back! I hope you're still enjoying those Silver Surfer comics. (Did you get to the one where the Abomination is summoned by fake Satanists? That always cracks me up!)
It should be OK if you invite some people. The more the merrier!

(Did you get to the one where the Abomination is summoned by fake Satanists? That always cracks me up!) Silver Surfer #12 I think. In the Marvel Masterworks edition Stan Lee explains that they originally had planned for Silver Surfer to become a villain after the end of the run.

Hey you guys, I'm Mormel. I am 27 years old, and I live in the Netherlands. Back on CBR, I also went by 'Mormel'. I was never a proper Classics board regular, more of an occasional poster, which is in large part due to my limited knowledge on classic comics. But I did lurk a lot there, because I have turned my attention away from contemporary comics since the late 2000s, and have been collecting Silver and Bronze Age Marvel comics instead. I'm very fond of the works of Chris Claremont, Steve Englehart, Dave Michelinie, Roy Thomas, and others. Artists I love include early Romita Jr., Romita Sr., Marc Silvestri, Neal Adams, and Byrne.
In my daily life, I can usually be found reading books, drawing, taking long strolls, or listening to music. To make a living, I clean offices. Job market is atrocious right now, and I'm contemplating my options.
Don't let the avatars fool you, I am not a red-headed, green-eyed girl. I'm more like a Pacific Islander version of Steve Urkel.
I continue to post on CBR, but I'll be hanging around here as well.
Also, The Eagles are pretty cool (I like 'Desperado' and 'One Of These Nights' a lot), but I can take or leave Fleetwood Mac post-1975.

Hi, 'nother older guy here... originally posted as "Gene" many years ago on CBR, but some CBR cyber-hiccup made it necessary to pick a new name, so my first thought was that of TREK's "Squire of Gothos". Make of that what you will. I've been an infrequent poster at the former Classics board for something like five years. Hope some of the thread-contents, though not the threads themselves, can be resurrected here. I keep four blogs going; this one, a book-and-comics review blog, is the most recent. ouroborosdreams.blogspot.com/
