I'm berk, same as on the old forum. Thanks to everyone for getting this new Classics Board going and to RR for letting me know about it. Good to see some familiar names here as well as a few new ones. I wasn't planning to re-register at the rebooted CBR, so this is kind of a win-win for me.

Another Kirby and Conan fan?... I shan't complain about that.

Hello everyone, I'm Aaron, 38 years old, accountant by trade. I've been on CBR as Sacorn69 since Scott Shaw's time and the introduction of CSBG to the fold. I was hugely shocked and disappointed to be unable to find the classics forum after being away for a little while and was ecstatic to find everyone moving out here. While I have never been a regular or large poster, I logged on daily to keep up with the goss.
I was born and live in New Zealand, and have loved comics most of my life. My first foray was when my mother started buying Whizzer and Chips, Buster, and various DC superhero B&W reprints when I was in my pre school days. I progressed to a subscription to 2000ad at around 10years old, and to Marvels after that, when I eventually found somewhere in NZ that actually sold them. It was either the British weekly's or Australian reprints that were found in stores during my younger years.
Like Tom, my major now goal is to complete my Amazing Spider-man run, with only 15 to go (1,2,6,8-13,15,16,18,72,75,81) to get everything to #545. I also like to read and collect Silver/Bronze age Marvels, Conan (CtB & SSOC), and Vertigo and have around 3,000 comics now, along with a few hundred tpbs.
Spidey #545 was my last new 'floppy' purchased direct from a comic shop, but I still keep an eye on new comics and pick stuff up on the local auction websites for 1/4 of the cost if or when they pop up. If it's not the old Marvel stuff I'm buying, it's seems mostly the indie stuff that I find most interesting these days.
Anyway, I look forward to the new Classic comics board!

Well, after an overdue amount of time exploring the CBR rebooted thread, I come back to the roost after an invite from mr ish kabibble, which I gladly accept.
Very impressed with the site Shaxper. Always felt very comfortable on the Classics, my favorite boards ever.
My name is Mark Brodersen, my lifelong nickname has been Hondo, hence the tag hondobrode.
I was on CBR and Newsarama and the DC boards as far back as I can remember. Classics is the best.
These are great and knowledgeable fonts of information and no silly smack talk or flaming wars.
I'm 47, married, with a son and 3 daughters, who all enjoy. My only son Nick (named after Fury) is pretty hardcore like me.
Wonderful Wife has a good attitude but it's not her girlie thing. We're both in medical sales and are Huge dog lovers, hence our 2 schnauzer furr babies. She sells optometric products and I sell compounded meds to veterinarians.
Have a deep and wide interest in almost everything from superheroes, pulps, mysteries, horror, sci-fi, undergrounds, slice of live, history, funny animal, romance, westerns...
Loves the classic but still buying current. A year ago transitioned my purchases to Comixology on my iPad and love it.
Have about 30K Singles, oversized editions, trades, coffee table, slipcover, etc. can't imagine my life without them.
All the the great writers and concepts, artists, publishers, etc.
good to be back

What happened??? I am out for a week and all of a sudden the Classics Boards I have been haunting for years has disappeared without any warning whatsoever! I have read up on it now but I was upset for while there.
I think I have been a member of the old boards since two or three reboots back. My collection is up to about 10,000 mostly bought a week at a time since 1974 but I haven't bought "new" comics since 1998 or so. Most of my hoard are bronze-age Marvels but I have some from all eras. I am a big fan of the Metal Men, LOSH, THUNDER Agents, Defenders, and many obscure characters. In the past 10 years I have amassed a lot of "alternate editions" such as variants, promos, mini-comics, retailer and distributor editions, etc... just because of the challenge.
I have written several articles on 30 cent variants, Marvel Vintage Pack releases, Slurpee cup art, and on many other alternate edition comics. Although I am pushing 50 I still read a few comics every day and have read everything in my collection at least once. The 90's turned my off to new comics so I just stick to older classics now. Thanks again for setting up these boards and saving us from a nomadic existence!

Just repeating a suggestion made earlier in the thread: you might want to re-register there just to make sure no one else registers under your name.

Let them create chaos and confusion.
