Posting for those of y'all that may have migrated here from CBR, and might have known him. he was a regular on the Community board for many years, and also hung out on YABS as well on the Movies/TV, Gaming, and other forums there. I'm sorry to relay that long-time CBR poster, Jim Roberts (DungeonMaster Jim / DMJim) passed yesterday. Jim was on the B17 Bomber that crashed yesterday, and was not among the survivors. As I posted on my wall, the only real solace I can find in the horrific news is that he was an avid History buff, and that he was excited to be getting a chance to "fly history". . so he passed while doing something that he loved. way, way too young R.I.P.

That's the third person I've known from CBR pass away, it's strange to morn people you've never actually met but it effects you none the less for that. I met him in person over 20 years ago at Dragon*con after we had talked so much on CBR.
he was a regular at DC, and always showed up (at the very least) for the CBR lunch on Saturdays.
we had a falling out (over Politics of course, what else?) just after the 2016 election, and hadn't really spoken with him since then. . and in fact, I didn't even see him a month ago at Dragon*con, since I missed the CBR lunch.
and now he's gone and I won't ever see him again.
just a gut punch.
this is the last pic I have with him, from the CBR lunch at Dragon*con 2016 (Charles RB is in the Horsehead, DM Holly is taking the pic, and Solaris was late). Jim is bottom left, in the Baseball Fury makeup.

Very sad. I was just talking to my mom about that crash yesterday when it happened as Bradley International is the first place I ever saw an airplane and the Bradley Aircraft Museum which showcased a number of WWII vintage aircraft was a favorite place of mine to go as a kid. Thoughts are with Jim's family and friends. -M

Just saw that actress, and also singer, Diahann Carroll has died at the age of 84. She appeared in many Broadway productions and TV shows, including this inappropriately erotic sequence in the Star Wars Holiday Special:

Notes to Moderators: You can take this down if you feel it is inappropriate or too political, but I feel strongly led to post it and I willingly accept any repercussions or punishment you deem appropriate to deliver upon me.
RIP to the Kurdish people already killed and those who will be killed in Syria, as Turkey has already started airstrikes against civilian areas in the aftermath of POTUS Donald J. Trump's decision to pull US support from the area.

RIP to the Kurdish people already killed and those who will be killed in Syria, as Turkey has already started airstrikes against civilian areas in the aftermath of POTUS Donald J. Trump's decision to pull US support from the area. Added to the more than 13,000 of these perpetually homeless human beings who have already given their lives fighting alongside American soldiers in the fight against ISIS. Now we do the bidding of Turkey as well as Russia and North Korea. How do we even begin to encompass in mere words how faintly our star glimmers in the firmament of nations? That your words of conscience might be considered inappropriate, offensive, or too political speaks not volumes, but libraries.
