What a bummer. A great band that had way more gems than people know.

RIP to Logan Williams, the actor who played the young Barry Allen in the CW's Flash series. He was only 16. No cause of death was released, though his parents said it was sudden and unexpected.

That poor family... and they must mourn all on their own, too.

R. I. P. Bucky Pizzarelli jazz guitar great. Pizzarelli had test positive for Covid-19. I'm not sure anyone ever played the seven-string guitar better.

R. I. P. Bond Girl Honor Blackman. Ms. Blackman had a long career, but she'll always be Pussy Galore to me.

RIP to Detroit Tigers legend Al Kaline, who was 85. -M A great ball player and an even greater human being. Youngest batting champ ever (20), superb glove and arm, excellent hitter. Often forgotten is his performance in the ‘68 Series, in which he came back from a long time on the DL. Humble as always, Kaline told his manager, Mayo Smith, that he shouldn’t be in the line-up because he he had hit poorly when he did come back. Smith put him in right anyway, because he moved Mickey Stanley from center to SS to get his best bats in the line-up against Gibson and the Cards. Lolich won three games for Detroit, of course, but Kaline was crucial to the Tigers’ winning. He batted .379, slugged .655, with two homers, two doubles and eight rbi, including the two that turned around the fifth game, with the Tigers down 3-1 in the Series. Detroit never trailed again as they went on to take the last two games in St. Louis. A true Hall of Famer.

Kaline was known to have a shotgun arm, too. Yep! Once threw out three runners in three straight innings, at second, third and home.

R. I. P. Bond Girl Honor Blackman. Ms. Blackman had a long career, but she'll always be Pussy Galore to me. Awwww, RIP Cathy Gale! Just watched her as a murderer, in a Columbo episode that was partially shot in the UK, after it was a hit there. They did exterior shots; but, the rest looked like a Hollywood studio (kind of doubt they did more than exteriors in the UK. The episode had all kinds of British expatriot actors: Bernard Fox (Bewitched), Wilfred Hyde White, an actor who played Henry VIII on Bewitched (don't know his name) and a few others I recognized, plus Richard Basehart as he husband and co-lead in a play. They murder a producer who was played byy the second Mr French, from Family Affair. Years later, I saw her in New Tricks, as a tv cooking show host who had poisoned her husband and got away with it; but, someone who had been a PA brought the case to the team. It took a long time but I eventually got the Cathy Gale years of the Avengers and she was great, though the studio setting (vs later location filming) and video recording was really different. Still, she was a really great performer, who got a really strong part when there weren't many for women, mostly because they had left over scripts from when Ian Hendry was on the show and didn't alter the script when they switched it to Cathy Gale. So, she got to be tough and capable and it set the tone for later, with Emma Peel; and, to a lesser extent, Tara King (always felt Tara was softened too much). Classy lady, fine actress.

Ditto to those sentiments.
Her portrayal of Cathy Gale was rightly praised as one of the earliest examples of a strong female protagonist on television. Interestingly, this is supposed to have developed because her first few appearances were using scripts originally written for the (now lost) first season of The Avengers where Steed's partner was Dr. David Keel, or written between seasons, when it was assumed that Hendry's replacement would also be a man. All they did was change the character name, and Blackman played the part as written, but imbued it with her brand of femininity. This set the tone for the character and the later writers just followed suit.
I am also a lifelong Doctor Who fan, and fans of the new new series might be interested to know that Blackman appeared in the classic series, playing Professor Lasky in the "Terror of the Vervoids" segment of "Trail of a Timelord" with Colin Baker.
Here she once again led the way, as Diana Rigg, who followed her as an Avenger and a Bond girl, would decades later also appear in Doctor Who as Mrs Gillyflower in "The Crimson Horror" alongside Matt Smith.
Vale Pussy Galore.
