Veteran British actor Gareth Thomas, who starred as Roj Blake in cut 70s sci-fi series Blake's 7, has died aged 71. A very underrated actor. Sad news. I used to love Blake's 7 as a kid, although Avon was always my favourite character. Actually, some friends and I re-watched the whole thing -- all four series -- in order, about 5 or 6 years back and it still really holds up. I mean, it's crammed full of terrible, budget BBC special effects, wobbly sets and cheap looking props etc, but the stories, characters and acting still holds up really well. It's pretty dark too, which kinda went over my head as a youngster.

I tends to get kind of lumped in with Doctor Who, but it's a very different kind of show, aimed at a rather more adult audience than Who was back then. Elements like the Federation trying to frame Blake for child abuse would not be deemed suitable for an early evening slot, now. And of course, all the "heroes" were anything but heroic, even Blake himself was a fanatic willing to sacrifice millions of innocents by destroying Star One, which regulated the climate on a hundred colony worlds, simply in order to strike a blow against a regime he disagreed with.

The English actor, screenwriter, and comedian, Victoria Wood, died yesterday at the age of 62. I was never a huge fan of her comedy, to be honest, but she was a great writer and actress. She was regarded as something of a national treasure over here.

I am in shock. I figured out a lot about my sexuality at age 14 while watching a live broadcast of a Prince concert on tv. Became a huge fan, saw him in concert 3 times. What a giant that tiny person was.

Apparently the hoax is a hoax. He appears to indeed be dead.
Damnation.

As an early WWE Fan, this Woman was legendary became the first Women Intercontinental Champion in history of WWF/WWE. She held that title on two separate occasions.

No way! No way no way no way. I put on the radio just now, it was playing 'Little Red Corvette' and I'm thinking, okay cool, haven't heard this one in a while. And then I hear the DJ in conversation with a listener going "where were you when you heard..." and I knew something wasn't right. Man. Right now the radio's playing 'Cream'. I often visit an unofficial Prince fan forum. They must be going mental right now.

Prince is gone? That sucks. He was the only one of the "Big Three" (along with Michael Jackson and Madonna) in the '80s whose music I ever liked other than a couple of songs here and there.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life. Electric word, life; it means forever and that's a mighty long time. But I'm here to tell you there's something else: the after world. A world of neverending happiness. You can always see the sun, day or night."
Enjoy your neverending happiness, Prince, and may the sun never set on you. You will be missed.

I hate hokey hoaxes. R.I.P. Prince. Enjoy your next phase and we'll enjoy what you left behind

I never meant to cause you any sorrow. I never meant to cause you any pain. I only wanted to one time to see you laughing. I only wanted to see you laughing in the purple rain.

The current 89.3 in MN is playing his discography in chronological order. Which is nice as I am at work with a PC with no speakers and company phone I can't download my music to. But I can stream a radio station on it www.thecurrent.org/listenAnd I agree Ish. :-)
