Most I didn't even know were dead, of those, some didn't come as a surprise, but a few of them I thought were too young. Breyfogle? He wasn't even sixty!

I don't think this list has been posted. It's a little outdated but there's a lot of names there, some might've been missed: Thanks for posting that, Ozymandias, even if it bummed me out big time ... I had forgotten about many of these folks' passing, and learned about a few more. Even one about whom I had mean thoughts just a few days ago, for which I now feel pretty crummy. There's nothing wrong with disliking some of the creators on this list. I'm sure you respect them for being at this level in the profession.

But while I can't pretend to have enjoyed the guy's work just to honour his memory, I am genuinely sorry that he passed away.

You don't respect the creator in question for being in the " major leagues" ? There are many thousands that want to work for the industry that aren't good enough. I respect Dick Dillan although I found his art to be a sleeping pill.

I respect Dick Dillan although I found his art to be a sleeping pill. I respect Dillin too, or Don Perlin, or Jim Mooney, because they always provided professional art. Eagerness, professionalism or failed but genuine attempts at originality count for a lot in my eyes, even if in the end the result can be disappointing; so there are a lot of professionals who were never fan favourites or who had very short careers whom I do respect as creators.

not to make light of anything. . .but WHO THE "F" alphabetizes by first name? I hate that too. I guess it's people being ignorant (or lazy) and not splitting names into columns on spreadsheets and sorting their data properly.

Maybe it's not laziness or to make it more easy to read, maybe it's to denote proximity to the deceased?

Maybe but it's not just this list. It's everywhere.

not to make light of anything. . .but WHO THE "F" alphabetizes by first name? Lots of places alphabetize by 1st name, especially when dealing with large groups of names. Electronically it helps if you can't or don't remember a name. Here with State you can pull up members and staff by either last name or 1st name. Makes life easier I must admit.

With many of the names in the Comics world, you recognize many of the stars with just their first names. Stan, Neal, Gil. I don't need to hear the last names.
