Mine is the Mego 8'' scale. Those were so much fun to collect and play with. If only I had asked my parents for multiple figures (one to play with, one to put up and keep!). Despite Mego cutting corners with body types, arms, legs, etc, the costumes and head sculpts were pretty much spot on. The cards the figures came on were bright, colorful, and had pictures of your favorite heroes on them. It was fun to go the local Big K and see the Mego display. The playsets that went with the figure line were fun too. If you were a child in the 70s and were into super heroes, the Mego line was a dream come true. Mego were the ones I always wanted as a kid, but never got. >sigh<
But of all the toy lines that I did get, the Marvel Legends series has to be my favorite. They've been making them for years and years, they've done virtually all of the major characters, and many, many minor ones. Their size and articulation make them great to display in poses other than "standing around with arms at their sides" like some of the limited-articulation figures. The one painful oversight is that they still haven't made a Nighthawk figure (they have for the 3.75" scale, so they haven't forgotten about him entirely). Without him, my Defenders shelf will never be complete. 
Also, unlike my other favorite line, DC Universe Classics, the only Marvel Legends I couldn't lay my hands on were mostly variants. And because I never could find a Gentlemen Ghost with Giganta's head and pelvis, she's still lying around in a pile unconnected parts.

[/p][/quote] About a year into the DCU Classics line, I promised myself that I would get hard-core into that series if (and only if) I could easily assemble a full New Teen Titans team. I could never find all the figures in the store at the same time. I wasn't going to buy two or three figures without knowing for sure that I could get the rest, and I wasn't willing to pay after-market prices, so I threw in the towel. Perhaps they should have taken a cue from Marvel. |

The DC Super Powers line with the Marvel Secret Wars line in second...AKA the action figures I played with as a kid.

As a kid, I had several of the Mego figures (in fact, I still do have them) and later the Secret Wars and Super Powers lines, amongst others. These days, I collect the DC Direct and Marvel Legends figures for display and think they're great, but I think the Mego ones I first played with will always hold the top spot for me.  |

I tried to only mention action figures that were based on comics but if I were to expand that the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero line from the '80s would definitely be on my favorite list along with Masters of the Universe, Transformers: Generation 1, Kenner The Real Ghostbusters toy Line and the die-cast metal Voltron, Defender of the Universe.

I tried to only mention action figures that were based on comics but if I were to expand that the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero line from the '80s would definitely be on my favorite list along with Masters of the Universe, Transformers: Generation 1, Kenner The Real Ghostbusters toy Line and the die-cast metal Voltron, Defender of the Universe. All of these had comics. In fact, Transformers and Masters of the Universe began as comics  |

Yeah: the talking KITT car with Michael Knight action figure was a big Xmas present for me that year. After I opened all of my other presents, my parents informed me Santa told them he left another one behind the couch. Also, I had the Silverhawk guy with the guitar and cowboy hat. |

the only figures I still care about are Iron Giant and Ren & Stimpy/John K related. Also anything by Dave cooper as the boxes also have exlusive comics by Dave. If I found some cool and cheap Jim Woodring toys, I'd maybe buy them as well.

The thing for me is that I didn't seriously collect Super Hero figures until I was in College (First the Toy Biz DC Comics Superheroes and then i backtracked and started collecting Super Powers)
as a kid, I was either hardcore Star Wars or Hardcore G.I. Joe.
That said, I have a real soft spot for the Total Justice/JLA line. I know a lot of people look down on them for their pre-posed style or whatever but I liked them as they presented the (then) current crop of Justice League heroes (and I really love having Zauriel on my shelf)
