I always preferred ROM over the Micronauts but I prefer Cullen Bunn and David Baldeon over the team they have for ROM so I'll probably only check out Micronauts unless the reviews for ROM or good.

I just had another idea as to why Micronauts may be the better pick: How do you do a ROM book with out the other Space Knights or the Dire Wraith? I think Marvel still owns those concepts.

Who says IDW won't make their own lite versions of those characters ? They probably will.
I love both these series and can't wait for them both. They're both so cool.

Unfortunately, I have very little interest in these characters if they're divorced from their Marvel continuity. I read the last Micronauts revamp and it left me less than impressed.

I generally like Bunn's work outside the big 2 (big fan of Sixth Gun and Helheim in particular), his big 2 stuff is hit or miss. I am currently reading through the Marvel run still, I got bogged down in the 40s, and outside of the initial 12 issues by Golden & Mantlo, there's not much worth keeping from the Marvel continuity either, so I am open to seeing what can be done with it. I liked what I read of the Micronauts prose novel (I only have the first book of the trilogy and haven't tracked down the others yet), so there's some stuff outside the Marvel iteration that has been quality.
I'll give it a look if/when I get to a shop after it comes out.

I really enjoyed all of Mantlo's Micronauts, it was one of my favourite books at the time. From the later stuff, I particularly liked Baron Karza's war with S.H.I.E.L.D and then the quest for the keys. It only really started to pale for me when the original book was cancelled and replaced by Micronauts: the New Voyages.

For me, each story after the first 12 was a pale imitation of the previous one, and like a VHS or cassette tape, the more you played it, the worse the quality. Karza War, bunch of filler, oh look Karza's back in the same story with a few tweaks that don't really make it all that different, bunch of filler oh look Karza imitator in Force Commander doing what Karza already did, bunch of filler, rinse repeat, dilute over and over again. -M

Here's the cover to book 2 and book 3 but there might be printings with alternate covers as I have also seen this for book 2 online... the first book was published circa 2003 by Ibooks, which alo did Dr. Who and other sci-fi license properties. -M

Reprints of British material, or new material? I'm a Doctor Who obsessive but I've never heard of them.
