I have no objection to the stylisation and exaggeration - I get what he was trying to do there, and while I don't think it really works, I don't have a problem with it. I do have a problem where he completely breaks human anatomy by having a knee joined in a way that no knee could ever be joined. That in itself is a cheap shortcut - rather than draw the distorted pose with anatomy that worked, he dislocated the knee to make it more dramatic. Cheated anatomy is something that really bugs me - I don't particularly like mangaised art, so for example the madly exaggerated eyes and mouths of Humberto Ramos characters are not to my taste, but within the context of his art style are clearly used to convey expression, but he doesn't draw characters with extra knee joints, which I would contend are in the same class of bad art as Liefeld's hinged-back pony women and perspective-defying characters, though obviously in most cases not drawn as badly. What can I add... Canete draws cartoony to achive dramatic effect, on a character named Spider-man! ANd again, it's an artistic choice, the difference between reflex and intent, Liefeld abiding to the former category. Or maybe we are gonna soon criticize Salvador Dali's anatomic skills?

Where is this court you speak of? There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call... ...woman's intuition.

Then of course there was the late Bill Jaaska on New Titans. D@mmit. Can we just not. . I want to read 90's stuff so badly. Because I think I could like the stories, and some of it has a feel from my time, but the art. I just cannot with the art. It is so hard to look at. A lot of it is pure eyef*&kery to look at. I get confused. All of this art is also from 90s comics. Don't let a few high profile bad apples spoil it for you.

Thank you, dupersuper.♡
I am currently reading Wally's Flash run, and while I do not LOVE the art, I do not hate it or find it terribly distracting. You are best.♡

So I'll see your Alpha Flight and raise you 2 pages from Legionnaires #16 from '94. This has the lot, the redneck trifecta of hair, boobs, n a thong. Some of the most outstanding hair designs I've seen, and gives me a reason to love every Liefield book Ive ever read. The real questions here: 1) How is Dreamy's belt staying up? And why doesn't she have 4 pouches on hers? 2) Does Dr. Gymll know the Legion got into the pain killers again? 3) When did wavy hair become a requirement for membership? 4) Why didn't anyone stop the Time Trapper from devolving Ultra Boy back to a Neatherthal? (assuming that's him with Element Lad in the 2nd to last panel) 5) Can someone give those guys a sandwich? (That's alot of ribs sticking out!)

Thank you, dupersuper.♡ I am currently reading Wally's Flash run, and while I do not LOVE the art, I do not hate it or find it terribly distracting. You are best.♡ I liked Larocca and Weiringo of the issues I have. But Jimminiez (sp?) wasn't my cup of tea.
