It's true, all of it. The Dark Side, the Jedi, they're real.

Is the All-New, All-Different Amazing Spider-Man series considered canon? Not sure I understand the question. Why wouldn't it be considered canon?

Is the All-New, All-Different Amazing Spider-Man series considered canon? '2015 canon' I'd say...old school Spidey fans might prefer the original Volume One goodness and might consider the 2015 canon (as well as its immediate predecessors) a bastard of sorts but still begrudgingly pick it up.

I haven't read the new issues of ASM yet (got #1 and #2 sitting in my "to read" pile), but isn't this essentially the same Peter Parker we've been reading about since Amazing Fantasy #15? I mean, I realise a load of different Marvel universes got mushed into one and all with Secret Wars, but as far as I was aware, this was still the continuing adventures of Peter Parker. Is that not right?

More like an upgraded Peter Parker, there wasn't a Parker Industries, or Uncle Ben Foundation in AF15. If someone hasn't read Spidey for years and picked up the new #1, it's...different.

Sure, but the Parker Industries thing has been going on a while now in ASM, so that's not really a sudden new change. Yes, it's gone global now from what I understand, but I'm just curious as to why the OP asked if this is still canon. I mean, it's not as if this a reboot, a la the New52 or anything. All those old stories still happened and this new series just carries on from the end of the old one, more or less. At least, as far I know.

Not to speak for 8Bit...but would it still be canon to someone whose definitive Spidey is the 'classic' Spidey...before anything that transpired in ASM700?

Does the word 'canon' have any meaning if it applies only to a single person? Isn't it just personal preference then?

Well, I think it should be considered that way, yes, because it's still the same Peter Parker. Even though that Peter Parker existed as only a tiny memory fragment in Doc Ock's mind for a while there, he eventually regained his rightful body, so it's still the same character. Really that's not so different from when Spidey "died" and was reborn in The Other storyline in the early 2000s, in terms of whether this is the same character that we read about in classic Silver Age comics or not. Does the word 'canon' have any meaning if it applies only to a single person? Isn't it just personal preference then? I think so, yes. I mean, it's only one character, but we're talking about a range of texts -- all the issues of ASM for a start, not to mention other ancillary titles. We use the phrase Biblical canon to talk about the excepted texts detailing the life/existance of one person, don't we? By that I mean Farther, Son and Holy Ghost...God in three persons. I'm no religious scholar (far from it!), but in terms of whether the word "canon" can be applied to a single character like Spider-Man, yes, I think it can in this instance.

I think you misunderstood me, the single person I was talking about is the reader, not the character. I know the word headcanon has entered the language, but the word canon always had a semi-official meaning to me

I tried to read "The Amazing Spider-Man" #1 yesterday and found it UNREADABLE! UGH!! Maybe it was just me, but I just couldn't get through the entire issue. I do not care for the new direction & the Parker Industries and the involvement with SHIELD, etc. Perhaps I am just old school, but this is NOT MY SPIDER-MAN!

To me, fictional canon is "official stuff" that isn't alternate reality stories. Or something. :$.
