I see Arthur Gordon Scratch and think of Watergate figure G. Gordon Liddy. I'm sooo old I was thinking Arthur Gordon Pym, as in Poe's "the Narrative of ...", but I don't know where the Scratch (from the old nickname for the Devil?) fits in. Shaxper makes me think of Shakespeare, which is what I assume English-teacher Shax had in mind.

As I explained elsewhere, Arthur G. Scratch is an alias of a Watchman character only found in the Mayfair Games role playing game system sourcebook. The "Gordon" chose as I would know when I'm him

I see Arthur Gordon Scratch and think of Watergate figure G. Gordon Liddy. I'm sooo old Arthur Scrotum. You will never unthink it. Do not even play like you think something else when you see his name. It is forever burned into your brain now. Forever.

Wait a minute. Wait a minute. I just noticed we have a member named berk and a member named bert and they both don't use a capital letter and I've been melding them together all this time

Arthur Gordon Scratch's name makes me think of a guy playing pool and he's really bad at it (scratching = putting the cue ball in the hole).

I always read dupersuper's name as "duperstuper", and I definitely do not mean to. I always read it as "duperstar" I always added an "N" to Shaxper's name. "Shanxper"? mrp makes me think of WKRC in Cincinatti, for some reason. WKR C?

It's been a VERY long time since I watched that showc... We're planning on watching the Thanksgivings episode from the 1st season this Thanksgiving. I won't spoil it, but I bought the 1st season of WKRP DVDs primarily for that episode.

Funny story. .my Parents were in the studio audience for the taping of that episode. we hear every year how awful the studio smelled. . . apparently live turkeys don't smell all that pleasant!

That is hilarious! Did they say if they liked the episode (aside from the smell)? There's one line from it (if you're familiar with the episode you probably remember it) that I just have to quote to crack up the whole family: "With God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly"

yep, that is THE classic line. . and why the episode always makes the "top 10" episodes of all time in lists. my Parents weren't a fan of the show, and only watched that 1 episode because they saw it being taped -- it was a situation where someone on Hollywood Blvd offered tourists to come watch a show being taped, so they said "yes" and got stuck there all day while they filmed. so they didn't like the experience, and it was a show they wouldn't watch. my Republican, bigoted Dad, isn't a fan of Dr. Johnny Fever, or Venus Flytrap. . .LOL.
