Not too many animal names left for new super-heroes. I put a claim in for The Ocelot Alas, there's already one... What about the Pugnacious Platypus? Damn, and I already wrote his origin OK- What was to be his partner then Meet Sgt. Sandpiper

When I was just 11-years-old, there was a serial rapist at large in the towns around where we lived who was known as the Fox -- his nickname coined due to his ability to elude the police by escaping through woodland areas. He broke into a number of homes and sexually assaulted women and also at least one guy at gunpoint over a period of weeks. It was big, national news over here in the UK in 1984 and I definitely remember adults around me talking about him as if he was some kind of bogeyman, due to the close proximity to his crimes to where we lived. He eventually went up north around the York area and began committing the same sorts of crimes up there, which is where police finally apprehended him.

Not animal-related, except that the guy was an animal, but in 1985 I lived in the community of Diamond Bar in California, which was the scene of one of Richard Ramirez's execrable crimes. The media had dubbed him "The Night Stalker." And so, drunk on Miller's Daredevil, my friends and I patrolled the streets of our community with pellet guns and mace that summer (we were 16) hoping to be the ones to bring this mad dog to heel. Laughable now, it was really just an excuse to stay out past curfew and raise hell. And it totally worked!

The Serial Killer from my teen years was The Son Of Sam. One of his murders took place in the Forest Hills neighborhood I was then living back in 1977. On a summer weekend night, a young couple were necking in the front seat of their car on a quiet street. David Berkowitz just walked up to the passenger side and shot multiple times with his.44 through the open window, killing both victims
His killing spree went on for close to a year targeting mostly young couples. Eight separate incidents leaving 6 dead and 7 wounded. Also sent letters to the press warning about upcoming murderers. The crimes were committed in 3 different boroughs of NYC leaving one a feeling that it can potentially happen anyplace in the city. As large and populous New York City was, it certainly created a sense of panic among young couples as the incidents were so random.
