115 dollars for the Master of Kung Fu TPb of the 2003 6 issue series. That's a lot. Low print run ?

Marvel Fanfare 42 I think (with Stan Lee on the cover) has been selling for $30-50. Not sure why...

This is #42... going for $3 and change on Lonestar, no sign of Stan Lee. Lee's not on any Fanfare cover I know of. Al Milgrom (Fanfare's editor) is on #45... with a pretty stellar line up of artists... it's an all pin up issue going for about $8 in high grade on Lonestar. Not sure if that is the one you were thinking of. -M

I think he might have meant Marvel Age, Stan is on the Marvel 25th anniversary frame cover.

I think he might have meant Marvel Age, Stan is on the Marvel 25th anniversary frame cover. Ah that makes sense. It would be #41 then... not in stock at Lonestar (though they are buying it for over $20 in NM, and their buy prices are usually about 1/3 to 1/4 of their selling price to give an indication what they would sell it for). -M

Yes sorry I meant Marvel Age...thanks for correcting.
I really do not understand why though haha but it seems like an ish some people would randomly have and could get some money for. Unless it is that great of a comic worth owning.

Marvel age amounted to be a fanzine run by the very company. But if there's a market for it ...

Couple of books getting a bump, purely because of movie news.
Giant Size Fantastic Four #4 is seeing prices of $30-50 depending on condition thanks to Fox movie news. Also ASM #101 is expensive because they are apparently looking at doing a Morbius film. This one has always seemed to have some value due to it being a first appearance (and beauty cover IMO) but now it is even more.

I was surprised to see issues of Web of Spider-Man #97 going for between $10-20 or more. Apparently it is the first appearance of the character that plays Nightwatch. I had a copy of Nightwatch #1 but man it was just so terrible, I traded it away a few months ago. I can appreicate Spawn for what it is and Nightwatch just seemed like such a rip-off.

I didn't want to start a thread so I resurrected this one. last week I went to my LCS for the first time in 2 months and picked up around 20 books. When he handed me my Avengers books, he mentioned that this book- was going for 40 bucks , as it was the first appearance of Conan in the Marvel Universe. ( these youngin's don't seem to remember the 2 What If's? with him crossing over in the MU published in the 70'-80's)

I doubt that'll last long... that seems like a flipper thing.. I mean, who would pay more than cover for that?
edit: I quick ebay search of sold items show the last several to sell there were for $4.99...one dollar over cover.

I guess it’s one of those timing things. You have to sell it the first couple of weeks before people come to their senses.

You know, in re-reading the original post, I don't see any indication that the shock one derives from the asking price of a comic has to be due to the seller asking far too much for it. With that in mind, I didn't exactly laugh, but did let out a 'Huh!' when I purchased a copy of Panic #9 for five dollars (and that's here in Canada) at a convention last month. It's not in great shape but is complete, has a classic cover, and certainly I'm not likely to find again in a 'This box - $5!' bin. I did ask the seller if he were sure the comic was supposed to be in that box and he assured me it was.
In checking out online how much the same comic goes for in a similar 'Good' grade, I've found places offering it for about $30 plus shipping - a price as low in my mind as say, $115 for a Master of Kung Fu tpb is exorbitant.
