It's making me crazy (crazier?), pals and gals. In this panel from DC Comics Presents #52, who is the yellow character with the little bat wings? I recognize him but I can't for the life of me recall who he is, where he appeared or who the original cartoonist was. Please help! Attachment DeletedCei-U! I summon my wit's end!

If Cei-U! doesn't know who a DC character is, then who does?

It's not a DC character, it's an underground or indie character making a cameo as a parade balloon in the first Ambush Bug story.

I don't know.
But, he also looks kind of familiar to me as well. My first thought is that he's not a DC character but a cartoon character, from a 60's or early 70's cartoon done in the visual style of Bullwinkle? I can't say why I have that feeling and it may be completely wrong. But that's what my brain is kicking up when I look at this image.

I think it's supposed to be Dan O'Neill's Odd Bodkins.

My first thought was it looks like Goldie from Neil Gaiman's The Sandman but it can't be because DC Comics Presents #52 predates The Sandman by years.

I read the original post an hour ago, then I took the dogs for a walk and thought about it, and I thought, It's Goldie the Gargoyle!
But I couldn't remember where the panel was from, so I came back to check and you're right, that's way before The Sandman. Although I'm not sure that there weren't gargoyles in House of Mystery and House of Secrets in the 1970s.

I think it's supposed to be Dan O'Neill's Odd Bodkins. You were close! It's the Bat-Winged Hamburger Snatcher, a character Dan O'Neill did for National Lampoon. I'd never have tracked it down without your planting O'Neill's name in my head. Cei-U! I'm so relieved!

Cei-U! has already answered his own question, I see (probably he knew it all along & just wanted to see how ignorant the rest of us are), but yeah ... a gargoyle was sort of the comic house mascot for House of Mystery for at least its first couple of years as a horror-esque title. That started at some point after this cover story from the first original (more or less ... IIRC, the issue before that was all-reprint) post-Dial H ish --

No, Marty really did break through the logjam in my memory. I'd never have got there without him. Cei-U! Besides, I already know how ignorant *you* are: infinitely!

Hello all, Not sure where to ask so I thought I'd resurrect this thread. Could you please help identifying any of these? Thank you so much.
