Oh wow. Just realized that, in two weeks time, it will be the ten year anniversary of my joining (the earlier version of) this community! Nice. I started about 8 months after you, in September 2006. I did participate in the second Classic Christmas, December 2006. I think I recall initially being afraid my choices wouldn't be cool enough, and was overly self-conscious about interesting picks. I've long since let that go, but I think that year I included Usagi, whom I had just discovered, mainly to seem hip. Now he'd just make the list. Maybe I've become hipper.

I think my join date was 2005 but not very active. The Bendis board was the first comic related forum I joined. Though I never participated in the Christmas threads.

Oh wow. Just realized that, in two weeks time, it will be the ten year anniversary of my joining (the earlier version of) this community! I think I joined the old CBR forums in August 2006 and I'm sure I contributed to the second Classic Comics Christmas in December 2006. Were you a member over at CBR for a while before you gravitated towards the Classic Comics forum, shax? I only ask because my memory is of me being a regular in that old sub-forum before you. I have a vague memory of first noticing you becoming an active poster there and at that time, I'd already been posting in the Classic Comics forum for a while. I might be totally wrong, but if you'd asked me I would've said that I joined CBR before you, but that's clearly not the case from what you've written here.

I joined January 6, 2006, though I wasn't a full-time poster at first. I recall my first major contribution to the classic comics section was when I did a proto-review thread for the Spectre in the Silver and Bronze Ages. I got a lot of response and encouragement from that and so decided to become more active. No idea when that happened. Could have been a month later or six months later, for all I know. Edit: I know I went to Mid Ohio Con in November of 2006 and bought up my Silver Surfer run there, and that was the comic obsession I got into immediately after The Spectre, so it's possible I wasn't regularly posting until September or October of 2006, though I don't recall it taking that long for me to become a regular.

I didn't join CBR until Jan of 2012 I think when I came back from my 5+ year hiatus from comics, and I've only done 3 of the 12 Days events before (favorite short run series and favorite costumes at the old place, favorite classic comics here last year) and this was my 4th. I look forward to it every year, selfishly because it lets me revel in some of my favorite things, rereading and savoring them, but also because I get exposed to so many books, characters and creators I would not have discovered on my own.

I summon the official record! AWESOME. Thanks for this, Kurt! My favorites, ranked by preference... 1) 2014 - Our Twelve Favorite Comic Books 2) 2007 - Our Twelve Favorite Adaptations [of Comic Books in Other Media] 3) 2012 - Our Twelve Favorite Short Run/Limited Run Series 4) 2015 - Our Twelve Favorite Cartoonists 5) 2006 - Our Twelve Favorite Comic Book Characters 6) 2008 - Our Twelve Favorite Comic Book Covers 7) 2005 - Our Ten Favorite Comic Books (note: I had a very different understanding of this assignment the first time around) 8) 2013 - Our Twelve Favorite Super-Hero Designs 9) 2010 - Our Twelve Favorite Newspaper Strips 10) 2009 - Our Twelve Favorite Writer/Artist Teams 11) 2011 - Our Twelve Favorite Penciler/Inker Teams #8-11 ranked lowest for me because they took me so far out of my comfort zone. It's only in recent years that I've really begun to develop a deep appreciation for the art aspect of comics and, thus, have become aware of specific pencilers and inkers and what they contribute to a book. And newspapers strips were never an area of high interest for me. But #1-7 hold such ridiculously fond memories for me! Man, Kurt, you've brought us so many years of joy with this! Thank you!!
