Not finished anything this week but some intensive experimenting in Illustrator and Photoshop has made my pencil to coloured art path a little faster; I had an AHA! moment fiddling with Illustrator's Image Tracing tool. This is doodle from my sketchbook given the treatment.

I was shocked and amazed and dismayed - and in that order - to discover, from a Canadian friend, that bunting is pretty well unknown on the other side of the Atlantic. I had a real 'does not compute' moment. Surely EVERYONE knows what bunting is... but apparently not. Another peculiarly British thing. Bunting (you ignorant rabble) is strings of small triangular flags what is strung from buildings and lamp-posts and the like to give special occasions a jolly and festive air. When you live in a climate as unrelentingly miserable as Britain's, special occasions need all the help they can get. Now read on... History! by liam, on Flickr

We have a version of bunting in America, but it usually takes the form of these kind of decorative motifs added to porches and windowsills:

I've got stuck in the middle of a strip and have to do lots of other stuff before I can get back to it - including being at ECAF in Edinburgh tomorrow comicsday.co.uk/ which involves being nice and smiley (not one of my strong suits) in the hope of selling some comics and meeting interesting new people and networking - which I am spectacularly bad at.
So a super-quicky to make me feel like I've actually DONE something today: Untitled by liam, on Flickr

Doodled page from my sketchbook. Coloured in, a bit at a time, every time I was going past the computer. I'm pretty sure I just started by drawing the blue guy's ear and it just grew from that.

The last cartoon is just great and I really enjoyed that ... and again thanks for sharing all these "goodies" in the past year and I really enjoyed seeing your work here. Merry Christmas ... junkmonkey
