How about one volume every two months, starting next month to give everyone time to get the tpbs? Good luck finding them if you don't already have them. They've been out of print for a while now. Yeah I want to get them and start reading this year, but the more I look the more I am thinking about going for the bi-weekly reprint series Sim did for a large part of the early run of the series as an easier way to get the stories. I am still in the initial stages of looking into getting them (and I don't really have a budget to get anything much new for a couple of months now unless I get a points reward from my bank I redeem for Amazon giftcards or some such), so I doubt I will have copies in time to participate. I did look at Half Price books when I was there after Christmas and they only had 1 of the later phone books and were actually asking for more than cover for it as a collectible edition rather than their typical half cover pricing, so I passed on it. -M

Maybe I just dreamed it up, out of wishful thinking. The entire Cerebus is so big, it's probably the one thing I'd prefer to read on the computer screen - I just don't have space for all 20 phonebook volumes or however many it is, even if I could find them at an affordable price.

I just don't have space for all 20 phonebook volumes or however many it is 16 volumes. The whole set is 13" wide, front to back. I'm not sure what the fuss is about these volumes being out of print. A quick search on Amazon shows them being sold by third party vendors for cover price. I looked at the listings on Amazon yesterday-the ones at cover price are things like library discards being sold for full price-which usually means things glued in, pages removed or altered for archival purposes and read and beat to hell by a number of patrons. I don't mind used books I a rarely if ever pay more than a couple of bucks for a library discard because they usually are in the roughest of shape. I've rarely been satisfied with the condition of bused books I've ordered from 3rd party Amazon sellers as well (surprisingly the only ones I have ordered form who didn't describe the book being in much better shape than it actually was was a Good Will store). So yeah, I saw the listing and the prices, but I am very leery of Amazon 3rd party sellers unless it is fulfilled by Amazon itself (which provides some consumer protections) because of poor experiences in the past buying for them. There were 2 fulfilled by Amazon, one at $30 something for a really beat up copy and one at $80 something for a better copy. Nether is the price I would want to pay for what I would be getting. I don't mind beat up books but I won't pay premium/new prices for them in that shape.

They're selling for far less than cover on ebay, where you can see the condition in detailed photographs (and most of them look great). Heck, you could buy all 16 volumes at once for a hell of a discount: www.ebay.com/itm/Cerebus-the-Aardvark-TPB-Complete-Set-16-Books-Dave-Sim-Gerhard-/131689942306?hash=item1ea9550d22:g:kNcAAOSwX~dWhghP

I read issues # 1 and 2 so far. I like the feisty Aardvark.

If anything, the fun of the series is that the character does not change while the world around him does. Watching a violent, ill-tempered barbarian stuck in a world of talking heads is much of the fun. Watching what it slowly does to him is fascinating too.

The schedule works for me. That will give me time to round up latter volumes. Lone Star, if anyone else is looking has latter volumes for cover price or so.

To this day, when I hear something fall in the distance, I get creeped out.

Hopefully no you. Don't be too prideful and use your cane. ;-) Edit: I'd better watch out or RR's gonna curse me like Grampa Simpson.
