I love boxed collections of dvds/blu-rays. Especially when I'm home a bit more often now.
Got all 133 episodes of 70s sitcom Good Times and a boxed set of the first 7 SAW movies to dig into. Should get a complete series of SUITS next month. Although I can't stand Meghan Markle.
There, I said it.
Same here. I know streaming is the new way to watch TV anymore but I love my collections of Batman, Star Trek, Six Million Dollar Man, etc. I go back to them often. They are comfort "food" for my soul especially now. I never heard anyone refer to the " SAW" Movies as comfort food.

But I was talking more about the series I watch for me. Entertainment tastes are unique like each person!

I saw one with my stepson and it was gory and nasty. ( That's the old man in me talking).

Today’s reading: “The Masque of the Red Death.” Goes well with a big bowl of chocolate ice cream. Death and Taxes? More like Death and Chocolate We're better than this, folks. Let's keep politics where they belong -- in the trash bin. Election time honestly completely drains me of my interest in politics because so much mud slinging goes on. I guess I just get so caught up in it that I get burnt out?

We're better than this, folks. I'm not. But I will keep quiet about it.

Much as I agree, it's time the conversation moved on. You're right, and I apologize. I should be better than that and I wasn't. 100% my fault. You're one of the most mature members of this community, my friend. We all have our moments, and that is understandable. I appreciate your apology and whole-heartedly accept it.

I guess I just get so caught up in it that I get burnt out? We're all feeling it on an unhealthy level, regardless of where you lean politically. The stress and burn out are palpable. I wish I could toss aside my own fears, anxieties, and indignities about the subject, but I'm only human, and the stakes in our current political system are real. That being said, if we want the CCF to be that one safe place we can go to get away from such stress and anxiety, we must leave our burn-out at the door.

I wish I had seen the thread in time to see what the fuss was all about before it got deleted.
But even more so, I am glad it's Friday. There, I said it!

So... who here likes the Happy Tree Friends? Graphic violence + cute animals = one joke stretched to every possible variation.

I found the Happy Tree Friends shorts very funny for about 10 minutes, but as you say, there's only so many ways to tell the joke before it loses its effect.

I like that they always seemed to come back, kind of like many superheroes and villains do. I have worried about an actual little kid seeing them though, they are designed with that Hello Kitty and Miffy appeal.

I saw one with my stepson and it was gory and nasty. ( That's the old man in me talking).
John Kramer aka Jigsaw was still an interesting antagonist...not your typical bonehead slasher like Jason or Freddy or Michael (from Halloween, not the one in this thread).
Also got the final overdue episode of The Walking Dead that was delayed because of rona....it will air this weekend but is already on the premium network. I'll be watching that while chowing down on some crispy roast pork....
There, I ate it.

I saw one with my stepson and it was gory and nasty. ( That's the old man in me talking). I think kids get excited about horror franchises because they are franchises, and almost regardless of their inherent quality. It's a winning mixture of exhilaration and comfort to have "rules" and a sense of logic/familiarity when facing our collective worst fears on the movie screen. If you already know the franchise, you know how not to get killed in the new movie, and that suggests a sense of being immune to death. My generation had Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street to help us make sense of our existential dread. The last generation had Saw and Final Destination. The new generation has Annabel. I didn't care for Saw either (and I've never seen Final Destination), but I could see some older folks saying the same about Fred Krueger and Jason Vorheese. In fact, I wonder if I would have liked them if I'd first approached them with adult scrutiny instead of wide-eyed tweenage awe.
