Social media is a bane on several levels, but I admit that sometimes it is the best invention since sliced bread. To wit: nowadays, whenever something goes *PTOINGGGGG* in the house at 22h00 (say, a dishwasher door, just to name a curiously specific example), all one needs is a Youtube video to learn how to fix things.

Not too long ago our dryer went out. No heat, so figured it was thermometer or heating element. A quick google and my wife found that model is notorious for the thermometer going out. Quick search on Amazon and we found one for $7. One last quick search and see found a video on youtube on how to replace it. In any other time I would have either overpaid a repair man or chunked it.
But I agree most social media is a plague because we as humans (not the first time in history nor the last) use something potentially beneficial for things most unbeneficial.

Saw someone opening a large pack of biscuits in the supermarket and try to pocket it....so naturally, I yelled at the person and made a scene and security cornered her.
The quick adrenalin rush made my slight headache go away too plus I got some neat free samples...those energy milk-drinks always seem to taste like slim-fast

About 2 years back my wife fixed our dryer by watching a YouTube vid. She saw it was the belt and after ordering it, she replaced it with me doing the lifting. Last year it stopped heating and she did the same and replaced a fuse. She's amazing. |
