Okay, today was slightly awesome. I received the unused Usagi Yojimbo #156, page 9 art that I managed to get from Stan. When I saw it posted on Facebook, I immediately emailed to inquire about buying the page, as I know Stan's pages are extremely, extremely rare and I didn't want to miss out on a page this good. Thanks a ton to Sensei Sakai for selling it to me and Daniel for helping to facilitate the purchase and shipping. I'm absolutely thrilled to have this page. There was even an extra head sketch on the backside of the page! I can't stop staring at the page and grinning like an idiot.

Truly a rare acquisition and a piece of history. I love those few rare purchases you get to make in your life that you just can't stop smiling about

I love this unused comic page. I love the beefy ghost and the appearance of uncle Jei. It is a wonderful comic page with panels. Congratulations!

On the one hand, I love that Stan sells these. On the other, I'd love to see him publish an Usagi Apocrypha containing all his unused pages and alternate endings, but that will never happen since the originals get sold. But all the more precious the item you now posses, jabba359! It will never be reprinted, except on facebook and maybe in a Sketchbook.

Well there is always the chance the pages sold got scanned before they were sold and the files can be used to publish such an apocrypha book (or even used in another Usagi art book/gallery book). I know Stan still does physical pages, but the physical page is not a requirement in producing books in this day and age, digital files of pages will suffice. Great page btw, enjoyed seeing it. -M

You are correct, but I believe I recall Stan explaining somewhere else in this board that he still physically mails his pieces to Dark Horse, and they are scanned there. Thus, if he didn't decide to include it in an issue that he mailed to Dark Horse, it likely wasn't scanned.

I don't know. But I got the unused splash page from Senso #6 from Stan and it did appear in the process page of UY: Senso graphic novel. I would assume Stan does get a scan of some sort of unused pages. Unfortunately, he is so good at what he does, there aren't a lot of redone pages. I wish there could be some magical way to reprint the water color sketchbook he was working on a few years ago. But Stan explained that the water color paper didn't copy well. Too bad, those pieces are beautiful.

I'm pretty sure my page was scanned, as it was shown on Stan's Facebook page before I bought it and it looks like a scan, not a photo, on there. That said, Stan's more than welcome to borrow my page any time he wants if he ever needs it for some reason.

Edit: oops, posted this to the wrong thread! This one is for art created by Stan Sakai. I moved this to the proper thread.

Got this piece in the mail today that I commissioned from Billy Fowler. I love his style and really enjoyed seeing his take on Usagi. 9x12 ink and Copics. That's stunning!
