Kind of a shame how this is such a forgotten genre these days, even though it had something of a resurgence in the 80's with Peter Porker, The Spectacular Spider Ham, Captain Carrot & The Amazing Zoo Crew, Bucky 'O Hare, and Fantagraphics' Critters among others

I really like Funny Animals, so good topic! (And Hoppy the Marvel Bunny is the only Golden Age book I actively collect.) They are still around, though: Howard the Duck is still around for the moment. And Rocket Racoon has his own book, unless they got cancelled since I last checked. I swear I saw Captain Carrot in one of those damn DC Crossover things, and he was in Grant Morrison's Multiversity before that. There are still a surprising number of indy funny animal books aimed at adults: Zac Sally's super-depressing Sammy the Mouse, Kim Deitch's Waldo the Kitty/Demon, stoner comedy MegaHex... I've argued this before, but there is vastly more effective, adult, literary-type comics featuring funny animals than there are featuring superheroes - Forinstance the # 1, # 2, # 3, and # 4 spot on Fantagraphics best English Language Comics of the 20th Century list.

I love Howard, but I don't really consider it much in the way of a "funny animal book", though Gerber was quoted as saying that Howard was intended to be a parody/deconstruction of the genre

Spider-Ham is currently starring in the Web Warriors title. He had a major role in the last year or so Spider-Verse event. It was fun seeing him again.
With access to the Rock of Eternity, I so want a team-up of Hoppy the Marvel Bunny and Usagi Yojimbo, perhaps featuring a collaboration between Stan Sakai and Eric 'Doc' Shaner? One can dream.

There's also the new IDW Disney books, which are re-printing stuff that was previously only in Europe oF the Ducks and Mickey Mouse.
Then there's Mouse Guard, and that other similar series that I can' recall the name of that is similarly mice-as-knights.
I just read The Humans, which is a 70s biker parody with Primates... they might be too explicit to be called funny though.

^^^That art is beautiful. It's something that would have scared the p!ss out of me as a child, though, but as an adult, I find it beautiful.
