Sounds interesting.
That cover is hideous, though. I hate Marvel's insistence on generic pose covers that don't reflect anything about the story inside. Especially when that cover is terrible.

"Pog" A bittersweet homage to Walt Kelly, a great self contained story, great art, it still gets me each times I revisit it.

I have a few favorites. But I would say that Alpha Flight #29 almost immediately comes to mind as one of the best single issues that I've read. I believe it was in the latter part of '85. I was in a library and in high school. I just remember how action packed it was and the Hulk guest starred. It just seemed like non-stop action from the start all the way to the finish. So, that one ranks as one of my favorite singles.

Here's the one that got me back into comics as a young teenager:

There are numerous Silver Age (my main interest) storylines that spanned 2, 3, 4 issues that I thought were Great and are Favorite reads but for a Single Issue... I have always Loved Silver Age Crossovers and Multiple Characters appearing together in the same book since it was not common in the early days so for me as a kid it was exciting when it happened. I Loved these books since the day I saw them back in 1964/1965.

My love for bronze age comics can be wrapped up in this single issue of Adventure Into Fear #19: There were comics during the Bronze Age that you just won't see in any other era. From reality-bending alternate universes, to barbarians made out of peanut butter (that fought Muck-Monsters), to scantily-clad sorceresses and whacked out wizards, to a talking, smoking Duck...this one had it all. Steve Gerber is to blame for this beauty.

Why does it seem like that woman same appeared on at least a quarter of the covers Gil Kane drew for Marvel around this time?

Why does it seem like that woman same appeared on at least a quarter of the covers Gil Kane drew for Marvel around this time? Because she did?

Just off the top of my head: Batman #423 - "You Shoulda Seen Him" shows us the different aspects of Batman's character through the eyes of some cops who's come across him earlier in their beats. Uncanny X-Men #143 - Kitty Pryde vs. the creature from Alien, or whatever it was. This is sort of Kitty's coming out party as a superhero, as she has to survive on her wits all alone. Marvel Two-in-One Annual #7 - The Champion vs. Marvel's heavyweights shows us why Ben Grimm is special - his fighting spirit. I know I'm forgetting many, but oh well.

Man, I've been dying to get that issue of All-Star Squadron! That's a title I've fallen in love with in the past couple of years, but haven't managed to find that issue yet.

This is a really good one issue noir story by the Brubaker/Phillips dynamic duo.
