Hah! That first shot of Ben in the wig reminds me of the song Look Out, There's A Monster Coming by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band:
"My image was wrong, I didn't like me, So I changed my personality. I bought a deluxe Merseybeat wig But it was a size too big. . ."

The Greatest Rock Parody.....Ever
OK, maybe I'm prejudiced. There has been many good comedy films dealing with Rock N' Roll and the movie Spinal Tap gets an 11 in my top ten.
But there is one thing that scores higher. Its the awesomeness of THE RUTLES
Eric Idle and Neal Innes teamed up to write for TV the mockumentary All You Need Is Cash in 1978. George Harrison also joined in the fun. Pieces were shown on Saturday Night Live when Eric Idle co-hosted. Members of that comedy show contributed some cameos too. The 20 original songs done in Beatles fashion are brilliant even on their own.
In 2002 a follow-up film was made Can't Buy Me Lunch
2 CDs where produced featuring the songs from each film
Here's the original 1978 film. I envy any who will watch it the for the first time. Please excuse the subtitles but thats the cost of a free video in this instance

I'm sure most of you CCFers were not around while the Beatles were recording as a band. Still, it would be interesting to hear your observations, critiques, trivia and whatnot. Recently a new video disc has come out with most of their musical videos. Thats right, among other things the Beatles pioneered the music video. They stopped touring by the end of 1966, unhappy with the sound systems in the large arenas back then and also due to security concerns from the massive crowds they attracted. So they would film a music video of their latest single and send them to select TV shows to be aired. I recall, in the USA, The Smothers Bros show as well as Ed Sullivan would play them. YouTube has a bunch of Beatles clips now from rhis new disc as well as older live performances. Don't know how long these will be up, they have been forcibly removed in the past. Enjoy them while they are still available Besides the clips, lets hear what your thoughts are. I'm an oldtimer. I followed them from their 2nd appearance on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964 and bought all their recordings as they were released. I'll come back from time to time to share my experiences. Have you seen any of them as solo artists? Own any Beatles memorabilia? If there is any musical entity deserving its own thread, I would think it would be them My son's uncle gave him the middle name of "Jude". Yes, The Beatles deserve their own thread. Also: I haven't really listened to The Beatles in probably over a decade. Well over a decade. I think I got burnt out on them. I don't even know where my records are anymore. I did watch an interview with Sean Lennon a few weeks ago, and he stopped the interview because the interviewer just kept asking him question after question about his dad. But the interview was supposed to be about him and HIS music, not his dad's. So, he got pissed and walked off.

I feel bad for the two sons of John Lennon
After John's death, Sean seemed to be permanently attached to Yoko as if that was the only thing she had from her husband and refused to be more than one yard away from him. Every event she went to, every party she attended, little Sean was by her side. Even as a teen and young adult Sean was right beside her. I think he was a sock puppet. Its not his fault he was raised spoiled and coddled and a slacker but he should have asserted his independence before he was 30
Julian on the other hand probably felt abandoned since John hardly ever reached out to him (wonder if Yoko had something to do with that) It was very chilling to hear Julian's first album on the radio in the late 80s. He sounded much like his father and looked like him too. That 1st album wasn't bad for a begginer, had 2 or 3 very good songs on it. But he didn't have his father's genius and that disappointed the public
Very sad and messed up-both sons

Well, actually, I recently read something where he fully admitted he beat women and was quickly tempered. He admitted to hitting his first wife and Yoko. He also admitted to NEVER being there for Julian, and he saw Sean as his second chance. I doubt Yoko had anything to do with John not being there for Julian, but, of course, I don't know/didn't know any of these people personally. I just know from reading interviews long ago, and of course, I never have read (current) interviews with John since he died when I was, I think, four.

We had some Marvel Comics Beatle postings earlier. The Beatles appeared or were made mentioned in just about every comics company in the 1960s. For instance DC ... ... A case where the cover and opening splash used the same art. Love how Gene Colan based Penny (the protagonist) on Ann-Margret! And here's how Bob Powell drew the Beatles--some interior art from that Strange Tales #130 story mentioned earlier.

Top Ten Beatles Songs by MechaGodzilla lol. It's like you speak in third person. Do you? With the rapidly flashing avatar changing constantly, giant signatures, enormous fonts and the ID name on the list, you would think we're getting the 10 commandments instead of 10 Beatles songs

No, hardly the fact and I happen to like these songs very much and I'm totally unclear on your comment in speaking in third person. Totally Clueless.
