Two of my favourites, here: the original Denys Fisher Tom Baker Doctor Who figure from 1977, and an early Action Man from the sixties. The Tom Baker figure, one of a line that also included Leela, K9, the TARDIS, a Dalek, a Cyberman and the Giant Robot, was infamous for not resembling Baker at all. Supposedly, the Tom Baker head mould had been damaged in a fire at the factory so they substituted a Mike Gambit head mould from an abortive New Avengers line, instead. How true that is, I don't know. I'm not sure whether you like Funko POP figurines or not (I like them, but I usually prefer normal action figures), but the Tom Baker Doctor one is great. While a lot of Funko POPs that I've seen have had sloppy paint, the 4th Doctor figure is amazingly well-done. I think it's the best Funko product I own, and it's leagues above most other POP figures. I recommend it.

I didn't either (I have the series on DVD and remember it fondly form when it aired), but here's the toy line... -M That's a decent assortment but I don't remember ever seeing any of these in any stores I frequented back then. Were they on sale for long I wonder? Speaking of limited figures/vehicles in a line, here's a dear favorite from 1978: That's a pretty sweet Viper toy

I had the Viper, a Cylon raider, the Colonial Scarab and the Stellar Probe from that line. Scarab.. Raider & Probe... that was the Christmas my mother took an extra part time job working a few nights a week at Child World. Her day job at the time was working in the Milton Bradley plant in Springfield, Ma. Employee discounts at both places, so it was one of the few loaded Christmases we had when I was a kid. -M

I haven't seen or thought of that thing since I was a kid! I had that and loved it! Totally forgot it was battlestar galactica. Wow. Flashbacks. Thanks.

I've never been a particularly big fan of G.I. Joe, but the outlandish levels of bizarre Hasbro went to keep the line relevant in the 90's is something of an appealing curiosity to me

Been exploring youtube a bit about toy collecting and happened upon these two historical documentaries for Mego and Kenner that were interesting views.

BTAS/New Batman Adventures by DC Collectibles: Man-Bat I really like some of the BTAS figures DCC has been releasing in the past few years, but Man-Bat is easily my favorite. The sculpt is awesome and really captures his look from the show. It has the right amount of articulation so that I can get it into most poses I want (the head being able to tilt back more for better flying poses would be nice, but that's not a big deal). I don't display this figure with the other BTAS ones; this guy has a place on my horror shelf, right next to Dr Jekyll and Van Helsing.

You know, with how immensely popular the Shogun Warriors line continues to be, I'm surprised Mattel and Four Horsemen haven't partnered up to release new interpretations of all the various characters through Matty Collector. But I'm sure reacquiring all the licenses would be far too costly now to even consider

As a 90s Spidey cartoon fan, I always thought this figure was the bomb. Still need to get one...

It's possible. there were several rocket launching toys at that time-Micronauts, Shogun Warriors, Battlestar Galactica, etc. I remember the news featuring some kind of story like that, but can't remember which toy line it was form.
Welcome to the board btw.

Speaking of limited figures/vehicles in a line, here's a dear favorite from 1978: Is that the infamous rocket-launching toy that managed to kill some poor kid? Yes. Not 100% it was a viper or cylon ship, but it was definitely BSG toy that prompted the choking death lawsuit. The lawsuit which resulted in their future toys having missiles that only popped only half way out and why the Star Wars rocket firibg bobafet figure was nixed in middle of design phase. I remember having bsg ships of both types.
