Don't tell me they're making him a Russian just to cash in on the current animosity between that country and the West.

At this point I am not planning on seeing it, and if I do it will be on free broadcast television when I have absolutely nothing else to read, watch or do with my 2 hours.

Took the whole family to see Big Hero 6 this past weekend. Amazing! The animation was really well done, and Baymax is ridiculously lovable in every way possible. Only issue is that the story was crazy predictable, but it's a fun ride.
Definitely going to have to seek out the comics now.

The more I hear about this version of the FF the more afraid I become it will make the Roger Corman version look like a beloved masterpiece... Unless all the news about this film turns out to have been some bizarre attempt to lower everyone's expectations, this stands a real chance of taking over from Star Trek V as the the film against which badness is measured - worse than Superman 3, worse than Batman & Robin, worse than Howard the Duck. The first two Fox films were a long way from being classics, but they were enjoyable in parts (ie if you mentally edit out all the parts with the Dr Doom guy and Jessica Alba, and quite a lot of the plots, and especially the I-can't-believe-it's-Galactus), but this all sounds like the comic fan's version of the Endurance game show.

Of course we'll all seem he movie This is not a valid assumption. Lots of funnybook movies I haven't seen. Good chance this one will join the list.

Well after Amazing Spider-Man 2 the best I can say is Fox's Electro was as bad as Bale's Batman. And the rest of it wasn't all that great either. It's a shame. Thought the first one was a great film.

Star Trek Nemesis and Superman 4 make Star Trek V and Superman 3 look like Citizen Kane and Casablanca... I (fortunately) haven't seen Superman 4, though I have heard that it makes the trainwreck of Superman 3 look good. I'm not sure I'd go as far as hondobrode and say I "liked" Nemesis, but it was sort of OK - nowhere near as bad as Star Trek 5, or 1, or Generations

For me 1 was plodding but had cool concepts, 5 was silly but had that "I need my pain" moment, Generations was a lackluster send-off but I thought Shatner and Stewart were great in it...10 was just depressing.

It's funny the way different films hit different people - for me, 1 was like a particularly lacklustre (and very predictable) episode of the TV series stretched out over a much longer time, whereas Nemesis at least had some conflict in it, even if most of the myriad flaws of TNG were present in depressing detail. Generations, OTOH, I thought was just awful - stupid plot, masses of clumsy exposition (Whoopi, I'm looking at you) and terrible acting (that would be you, Mr Shatner) - truly the curse of odd numbered ST films in full effect.

Yeah. I haven't seen the first two FF movies, so probably won't be looking for this one either. They aren't very good films, particularly the second one, but there are bits of potential showing through amongst the layers of leaden directing and terrible acting from some of the cast: the origin sequence was reasonably done, and even built in an explation for why the Thing is stuck that way when the others weren't, without actually coming out and saying it; there were some good uses of their powers, particularly Mr Fantastic, and the character interplay that struck me a really Lee/Kirby (in a good way!). I'm not sure I can work up the enthusiasm for watching the new one - I'm not a big fan of "so bad they're good" movies, so I'll wait and see if everyone is pleasantly surprised before I make a decision.

Not sure of the veracity of this, but I heard rumblings via the Frazetta girls that Robert Rodriguez may be working on a live action adaptation of Baskshi & Frazetta's animated film Fire and Ice. I'd be very intereste din seeing how this might turn out...
