Is is it kind of selfish for me to say that I want this movie to die in development hell? If we're being honest here, the Legion represented the last comic franchise that was really special to me that hasn't been tainted by Hollywood or mainstream culture yet. Green Lantern bombed and Superman is now a dour, morsoe mess. I want the Legion to remain as kind of a niche fandom as we are now. I know it's childish for me to think this way and it prevents the franchise from gaining new exposure, but I fear that the Legion may become changed to fit the more "mainstream" taste in superheroes and that will soon trickle into the comics version that everyone will start to accept as the true version, besides a few old guard fans.
To quote another poster on another forum I frequent:
"In terms of this idea that the current batch of Didiots does not respect the older creators, I think this is true of many, but not all. I do think there is a disdain for the Silver and even Bronze Age because those comics were explicitly targeted at kids, and the modern Dark Age comics are targeted at 45 year olds who are so addicted to comics that they buy dozens of titles every month and eat 20-title crossovers for breakfast. But I'm not sure they think it's completely unimportant so much as that it is just not "hip" anymore. And they're trying really hard to make superheroes "hip" to all the people who don't think superheroes are very cool.
Again this is all about their constant quest to make their superheroes seem "relevant" and "hip." They don't seem to have cottoned onto the fact that historically, superheroes have never been "relevant" and "hip." Superheroes are more like, say, Jedi Knights. They have a code of ethics that is NOT the same as that of normal people, and it makes them who they are.
DC used to know this. But the guys in charge don't anymore."
I don't want to see Cosmic Boy tweeting on the 31st century version of Twitter. I don't want to see Phantom Girl joining a rock band to make her seem "edgy". I don't want Brainiac 5 to become part of the "geek chic" movement to be shamelessly pandering. I just want the Legion.

Watched Edge of Tomorrow (2014) on HBO last night. While it has a bit too much shaky cam during some of the action sequences for my taste I really enjoyed it. I liked the aliens and thought the take on the "Groundhog Day Scenario" was interesting.

Thoroughly enjoyed Jupiter Ascending. A very silly movie in a lot of ways, but it looked great, and I liked the scenario of the greater galactic civilisation with its decadent ruling families and their Machiavellian plots.
The two leads were a bit problematic, though - Channing Tatum's acting wasn't bad but I thought he looked a bit goofy, while Mia Kunis looked great but every time she opened her mouth it killed the (space-) operatic tone of the story and made me feel like I was watching a bad American sitcom. But almost all the supporting cast were excellent, really first rate, especially Sean Bean (who in a sane world would have played the lead) and the various Galactic aristocrats.

Going to see Jupiter Ascending next Wednesday, I'm not having great expectations, but the Wachowski's always try to do something interesting.

Will Spidey have a role in Cap 3: Civil War then? Link to CBR story & press release-M It was rumored for a while, but still a big deal that it's finally happening. With the press release noting that Sony will still own the movie rights to Spider-Man and retain creative control, I'm thinking about what the implications are. First, Spidey's in a MCU movie (which as you noted, is rumored to be the Cap 3: Civil War. Second, maybe we see more minor characters crossing over the boundaries. Third, this stabilizes the Spider-Man movie franchise. Amazing Spider-Man 3 had been pushed way back to 2018 to allow 1 or 2 of Sony's silly spin-offs to go first. Now, the next Spider-Man movie has been moved up to 2017 (in turn, pushing the next Thor back a few months). Will there be recasting? I hope we get to see Felicity Jones (who played Felicia Hardy in a small role in ASM2) come back as the Black Cat. J.K. Simmons hinted in one interview that he could play JJJ again. Please, please, make it so.

Oh, yeah, in the Daredevil show that made up some other newspaper for him to work instead, right? They'd probably have to re-record dialogue and CGI stuff in post-production to change all those references. I don't know that they'd make the effort, but it would be nice.

They'd probably have to re-record dialogue and CGI stuff in post-production to change all those references. I don't know that they'd make the effort, but it would be nice. The simpler option would be to have Ulrich quit and rejoin another paper. Or they might have had the foresight to shoot alternative footage with Bugle dialog and branding. The show only finished filming in December and I doubt this deal was put together quickly.
