Everything I know about Miles Morales could fit into a thimble. I don't want to see Peter Parker get left behind, but I have no idea whether Miles Morales would be good or not.

Warning devil's advocate mode-unless the "new" Spider-Man is Miles Morales.... ?? -M Shame on you for even suggesting such a thing. I'm not the first (though first here) and it would allow Sony/Marvel to share Spider-Man but still do their own thing... Plus who knows who SPidey will be in the MU after Secret Wars and the destruction of the Ultimate U right Get riud of the OMD mess by ditching Pete for Miles it all works out..... End Devil's Advocate mode I don't want Miles as my movie (or comics) Spidey because I grew up with Pete, but Marvel will do what Disney thinks best for Marvel.... -M

Well, the idea seems to be integrating the two continuities into a shared universe. That means I don't think we'd see Peter in one franchise and Miles in another, unless they decide to have two different Spider-Men living side-by-side in the same universe.

He won't get sidelined. Speaking of Secret Wars, with Spider-Man in the MCU how much do you want to bet that the Infinity War movies will feature the symbiote in some capacity?

So the way I see this working out -- and who knows, maybe it's even spelled out this way in all the contracts -- I envision that the Sony films will most likely end up being like the Spidey solo comics, in the sense of dealing with Spidey adventures, but also his life as Peter Parker and how that's affected by his superheroics, his relationship dramas, etc. Whereas the MCU films will mirror Marvel's team-up books where it's mostly Spidey in-costume doing the superhero thing without much interaction with his civilian life. That would provide a clear dividing line that would make it easier for the two studios to carve out their own domains within the Spidey/Marvel universe. It may even may make production and filming easier, as Spidey in the MCU films could be wholly realized by a stunt actor wearing the costume during close-ups, combined with CGI for the action sequences. All they'd have to do is get whoever they hire to replace Andrew Garfield to record some voiceover work.

My fantasy idea for the upcoming Avengers movie couple of years ago was two guys sitting on a park bench with newspapers in front of them. One asks the other if he thinks Spider-Man will join the Avengers. They drop the newspapers and it's Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. They both look at each other and say, "NAAAAH!" Maybe there's still time. I think we'll at least see something Spider-Man in Age of Ultron. They've got time to toss a cameo in. I enjoyed Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man/ Pater Parker and I look forward to see who plays Peter Parker next.

I never cared for Spider Man that much. Granted, I haven't read that many stories about him and my main exposure is through the movies, cartoons, and games. I actually want X-Men and The Fantastic Four back under Marvel's umbrella, but that's a pipe dream. This is a good start though and is better than nothing.

Follow up reports in The Hollywood Reporter indicate they are seeking a much younger actor to play Spider-Man (Garfield is 31) and that director Marc Webb will not return to the franchise films. Much younger....Miles Morales young? (cue devil's advocate music again) thwip thwip thwip linky-M

And this is the perfect idea for how DC/WB should counter this move and get the publicity pendulum swinging back their way.... from CBR's Pipeline columnthat might be a DC movie I'd be willing to pay money for as long as Zach Snyder and David Goyer have nothing to do with it that is -M

I saw Jupiter Ascending over the weekend. It's not quite as bad as you heard. A little Star Wars, a little Matrix, a little Star Wars, a little Guardians of the Galaxy, a little Star Wars, a little Soylent Green, a little Star Wars.
Some beautiful imagery. Some very good action sequences, including a great chase scene over the Chicago River.
But it's mostly pretty stupid. And it gets kind of boring. I spent the last 30 minutes thinking it had to be over soon, but there was always one more plot thread to take care of. There's a part of me that's still in the theater, waiting for it to end.
Mila Kunis should stick to movies where she has lesbian sex scenes with Natalie Portman.
