Not sure if this is the best place for this, but I'm always 50/50 on going to the theater anymore at all. In addition to ticket price creep, the increasing rudeness of movie patrons has all but turned me off the experience. I cannot recall the last time i went to a movie where I didn't hear at least one whispered comment or have one cell phone shined in my eyes. I thought I had found a workable solution in the local AMC Prime. They only show one movie at a time there, but being the premium setup with recliners, super fancy sound and screen, etc, it's $20 per ticket. It seemed that anyone willing to pay that much for a ticket wasn't about to waste the experiencing talking or being rude, and that was all but true until most recently. A couple sat down during the last couple preview and began to chat....I hoped they would stop once the movie started, but no. They continued to talk to each other the entire time. This is the expensive, reserved seats theater, and I was pissed because I paid for GOOD Seats.


Thankfully, it was a late viewing so the place was 75% empty, so I got up and moved down by myself up front, but it was nowhere near as good a visual or audio experience. Still, that would upset me less than listening to entitled rude people talk the entire time. They bought, food, too! WHO PAYS $75 TO GO TO A MOVIE THEY AREN'T GOING TO PAY ATTENTION TO??!?!??!?!

I find it appallingly rude and selfish.

Yeah, I think poor movie etiquette is an increasing problem. Seeing a movie in the theater is a communal experience. If you can't place nice with others, then you need to wait until the movie comes out on DVD.

When I went to see Captain America: Civil War, a quartet of boys around ages 10 to 12 sat in the row in front of me. One of the starts rock his chair back and forward with extreme speed and ferocity. It was stunning. It was so extreme that it seemed almost like he was intentionally trying to break the hinges on the chair. At certain points, some of his friends also rocked their seats (though not nearly as much or as fiercely), so I wonder if it was a contest. I put my foot up, but he didn't notice when his seat hit my chair. The trailers were going to start, and I didn't want to get into a confrontation with a kid where someone would get the wrong impression, so I moved over a few seats. Then, a couple and their daughter sit behind him. The trailers start and he's still rocking at times. The rocking is distracting even from the side of my eye, and he's being rude to other people. Finally, I decided to lean forward and tell him that he's being inconsiderate to the people behind him and he needs to stop. After that, he basically stopped except for a few isolated moments.

Nearby, some even kids (maybe around 5-8 years old) wouldn't stop talking. A 20-something woman says, "Shh!" to one of them. He responds, "I don't have to shh!" She walks out of the theater for a minute. Shortly thereafter, a trio of ushers come in and stand right next to them. That shut them up.

Planning to go see The Nice Guys, this or next week (depending on when friends are available). Trailers and reviews look pretty good.

Wow this is already out? I was looking forward to this, but sad to hear it's garbage. I had a feeling when I saw what Apocalypse looked like that it may suck. What a shame.

Problem is that it's has too many characters and not enough cohesiveness in the movie itself and that alone killed it. I felt that Bryan Singer was doing too much and that's gave it a bad reviews that I was hearing all the time and my friends warned me about it and I told them that I took interests in those reviews and took them for granted.

I'm a huge movie goer, used to go at least once a day until recently (living in Paris had its perks). First time I ever visited the USA was in 2003 i believe, attended a late screening of Sin City if I remember correctly, somewhere in Miami. My friends who took me ther thought I was gonna have a fit and almost had to restrain me : I couldn't believe how disrespectfull people were, I had never ever experienced anything close to that -people answering their phone in the middle of the movie, texting right by you, full lights on, constant commenting on what was happening on the screen. I had to get out to call security to ask them to adress the situation, which they surprisingly promptly did. So I guess there are unspoken and spoken rules as well there, it's just that to little people bother enforcing those... :/
