At least the movie wasn't horrible. "Perfectly adequate" is a, uh, perfectly adequate way to describe it, though I suspect it would fall short of even that low bar for anyone who isn't a hardcore zombie film fanatic. For those who are hardcore zombie film fanatics, check out this one. I know some of the people who made it and attended the premiere: www.hellbendermedia.com/Features_FOMF.html"High concept and low budget intersect in Flesh of my Flesh, a gory zombie romp filled with bullets, betrayal, and bloodshed — and that’s before the zombies get involved!" Great to see that's finally out. Edward Martin was promoting it on one of the Lovecraft lists I'm on years & years ago.

I just saw Sully and I loved it and Tom Hanks did a great job as Sully and I was impressed of the historical accuracy of the movie itself and it was done with action, drama, and poise. I highly recommended it to anyone who wants to refresh themselves on the Hudson River Miracle and my friends and I are thinking of seeing it again next week.
It was Two Thumbs Up!

Apparently they're making a Jumanji II...and it stars the Rock and Kevin Heart...and heart is excited because it's going to be "badass"
Who wanted a badass Jumanji??

That's the kind of direct to video movie I would have picked up at the rental store as a kid, and I know netflix is full of movies like that these days but I wonder who would have thought there was a big budget version?

Saturday morning was spent at the movies with my soda and popcorn immersed in the old west. Watched The Magnificent 7 and had me a blasted 'goldarn enjoyable time. Truly pleasurable experience to finally see a traditional style western without it having to be pumped up with horror or other stylizing to sell it to contemporary audiences. A nice old fashioned shoot-em-up-all-to-hell with the bad guys losing in the end. Great visual feast for the eyes and a story done well. Splendid acting all the way around from everyone. A must see on the big screen and will definitely be seeing it again before it comes down to DVD. Y'all go see now hear?!?! Support your local western movies so we continue receiving these wonderful movies in years to come.

Saw a pretty good movie yesterday: In Order of Disappearance, a Norwegian revenge thriller with a fair bit of comedy thrown in for good measure. Stellan Skarsgard is the lead.

Just watched the new Xavier Dolan film, Juste la fin du monde (It's Only the End of the World) with English subtitles. This film apparently split the critics, getting negative reviews from several Anglophone writers in particular, but I thought it was extremely powerful, with outstanding performances by all the main actors, Léa Seydoux, Marion Cotillard, and especially Vincent Cassel, who stood out for me even amongst all the other great work. One of the most impressive new movies I've seen for a while.

Highly entertaining and beautiful to watch. It interweaves 3 fairy tale stories about royalty from author Giambattista Basile. It's director's Matteo Garrone's first English speaking film Not for children, oh no, not at all. But if you like fantasy, beautiful cinematography and imaginative storytelling, it'll be right up your alley

If the goal of a horror movie is to disturb you and make you feel very bad for a long time, then 2015's Bone tomahawk is a smashing success.
Simple but excellent script, great characters, a slowly building tension and some of the most gruesome death scenes I've ever seen. Really, the stuff to give one nightmares. At the same time, the whole thing remains believable, sort of, which makes it all look even worse (kind of like the last house on the left, in which the feeling of despair stays with us long after the film is ended).
There are a lot of nice character touches in ther as well, and giving us such well-rounded people really involves us in their problems. The wife's mayor, for example, is absolutely not required by the plot; but having her in there for those few minutes adds a depth to the script that distinguishes it from similar films.

Loved him in Crimson Rivers, Brotherhood of the Wolf; and, especially, in Mesrine. Then, of course, there are the early days, with Matthieu Kassovitz's La Haine.

My wife is a huge Potter-phile and wanted to see Fantastic Beasts this weekend. We went earlier this afternoon, and it was a fun movie with some good performances and nice bits throughout. I was nowhere near anticipating this movie as much as she was, but I enjoyed it.

The girls loved it thoroughly, I really liked it, and my wife, who isn't a big fantasy fan, actually enjoyed it. It was a good way to start the series, and we're all looking forward to the next installment.
