I've got my sights set on the Three A figures, they're kind of pricey, but gorgeous. And yes, I would definitely recommend the old Eagle reprints if you want to get into Dredd, the Dredd Crime Files more specifically
Newer Dredd in 2000 AD kind of lacks the pure grit and rawness that the original had, almost like a punk rock concert in comic book form. There was almost something magical about the pure anarchy 2000 AD's writers and artists exibited back then, it almost seems kind of like a lost art these days The 3A figures do look great, and I've had my eye on them for a while. I don't think I'll be getting too many of them, as my focus is on the One:12 Collective, but I might grab a few here and there, depending on what characters they make (how about an East-Meg 1 judge?). I do think it's neat that 3A is making a good line of Dredd figures. I'm interested to see how the Mezco Lawmaster will compare to the 3A one. They both look very cool.
