I am considering doing a review thread as well but I'm hesitant because I feel like you have to be an expert on the par of Cei-U. Is it okay to just read the books and give your impressions?

Take a look at my Captain America review thead. I put it off for about a year before diving into it, feeling the same way you do, but I started it because it's something I have a passion for, not because I consider myself any kind of expert in the subject. I have fun doing it, nothing more.

Thanks Cap. I have several series that I really enjoyed, Maybe I'll take the dive into the review pool.

Yes If I can do fifty plus issues of Justice League of America for a review thread, you can do a review thread too.

I'm FAR from an expert/scholar like Cei-U, as my Marvel thread often shows. I do it not only because I enjoy comics history and the Marvel Age in general, but to learn things I didn't know as other members point out aspects of the issues I review.

Absolutely it's OK to just give your own thoughts...those are the bits that would likely be most interesting and generate the most discussion, I would think. Let's be honest, no one here is on a par with Cei-U! in terms of comic book knowledge and that hasn't stopped anybody else doing a review thread.

Yeah, that's the fun thing about the review threads: everyone has a unique perspective and I almost always learn something new or get to look at a familiar comic in a different way. From my limited experience, I agree that the hardest part is describing the action you want to talk about: turns out a picture really is worth about a thousand words (OK, I admit I didn't count them). You start out thinking you can do it in a few sentences and then keep finding, oh, I can't leave out this seemingly trivial detail because it's crucial to the point I want to make, etc , etc.

It's been almost four weeks since I did my last Star Wars review. Admittedly, I was away on holiday with the fiancée for two of those weeks, but it's still the longest I've ever gone between reviews since I started the review thread in December 2014. Work's been very busy, but I really must get on and get a new review up this week.

When I stick with one review thread for more than a month or two, I start to get wanderlust. But yeah, your review thread has more dedicated followers than any other thread this community has ever seen, so I'm sure they are waiting for you on baited breath How many issues do you have left in the series, anyway?

As daunting as it is to review all of Marvel's 60's superhero material, it's the constant variety that keeps it interesting for me. I will say that I'll probably stick to limited themes and creator runs from now on, though.

When I stick with one review thread for more than a month or two, I start to get wanderlust. But yeah, your review thread has more dedicated followers than any other thread this community has ever seen, so I'm sure they are waiting for you on baited breath Well, I hope that the folks who follow that thread -- some of whom seem to visit the forum for that thread alone -- do enjoy what I post and I must admit to feeling a bit guilty about leaving them hanging for almost four weeks. As for sticking to one thread, I think it helps in this particular case that Marvel's old SW comic is a series that I absolutely adore -- even the less than stellar parts of it. With the exception of Silver and Bronze Age Amazing Spider-Man, I can't think of another run of similar length that I would have the dedication or focus to do from start to finish in that way. After it's done, I plan to restart my Tintin review thread and I may do some other more manageable runs as well, in which I'll be more like yourself and move from one thread to another as fancy takes me. How many issues do you have left in the series, anyway? I have 24 regular issues to go now. So, with 134 reviews behind me, I've definitely broken the back of it and am into the home straight now. I plan to do two supplemental reviews after I finish the last issue, focusing on the Star Comics' Droids and Ewoks mini-series. I'm not gonna bother doing individual reviews for every issue in those two series because the creative team on them was the same for every issue and, although they were technically published by Marvel, they were aimed at a much younger audience and not really a part of the regular SW run. I'd like to be finished with it by late December, which would mark the two year anniversary of my first post. But if I'm gonna make that deadline, I need to pull my finger out and get on with it!

One of the reasons I pick shorter runs is it gets tiresome & repetitive after a certain amount of issues & I lose interest. I would like to tackle a longer run but I know I would quit half way thru it.
I admire the detail some of you put into your reviews. I tend to be too concise & I know my reviews are very short.
Maybe someday I will tackle the Death of a Prince Aquaman story.

I still have a long way to go, but when I do finish my Marvel Age review thread I want to delve into Marvel's Bronze Age, preferably on a run that I have little to no experience with. While I've read every Hulk issue from 1975 to 1986 (I started at Sal Buscema's first issue) I've only read maybe a dozen issues from 1970 to 1974, so that's a possibility. That said, yeah, I've read more Hulk comics than any other character and it might be more interesting to take on the Avengers, FF, Spider-Man, etc. I'm also considering Conan the Barbarian sans Savage Sword--we already have an excellent review thread on that series already.

...it might be more interesting to take on the Avengers, FF, Spider-Man, etc... I've been thinking that maybe a particular Spider-Man run, like the Gerry Conway era or maybe even the J. Michael Strazynski one, might be fun, after I finish my Star Wars thread.
