I'm kind of curious how many people are using the tools proboards provides to keep track of favorite threads, specifically bookmarking threads.
There's a drop down menu with Actions in the box. If you click on the drop down one of the options is bookmark. If you choose it, it bookmarks the thread for you. When you sign in/log in/surf to the page (if you keep it logged in) the front page shows you any activity in your bookmarked threads. If you skip the front page the notification bar shows you how many of your bookmarked threads have had posts in them. If you click on that bookmark link in the toolbar it shows you all your bookmarked threads.
I use it to track threads like the Birthday thread so I can find it when a birthday pops up, but also for threads that are most important to me or most interesting to me so I know immediately if there are new posts when I don't have time to spend a lot of time surfing here. It doesn't matter if a thread falls to page 2 or page 3 or what have you, you can easily find it with one click.
No matter what structure the site takes, you can customize the way you navigate it using tools proboards provides. From the participated link in top right which shows all the threads you have participated in in the past week or so and notifies you that there are new posts in threads you have participated in, to bookmarks, to setting up your notifications if you want to get emailed if certain things occur on the site. There are ways to make the site work for you and to tailor it to your preferences that are independent of how it is structured. It takes far less time to set those thing sup and maintain them than it does to try to surf through all of the threads every time you come. But if you want to cruise through to see hat new topics have popped up, you can still do that too.
A few of the comments of things people don't like that I have seen here are easily remedied through using these tools, so I thought I would mention them.
