Whatever happened to that McFarlane guy ? It looks like he had some potential. Wouldn't have been able to tell that from this book. Ugh, the boy had no idea how to lay out a page of panels. Apparently they didn't cover design in art school.

I don't think Perez ever drew the character, but he has a DeZuniga look, and he did work for the title.

To me it looks like McFarlane swiped the pose, etc. from Perez. I could well be wrong, but it just seemed to me to look like a Perez drawing on another cover that I just can't place, especially the arm. Of course, it's probably a standard "hero pose," too.

Yeah, I see what you mean now.

Kind of stiff; not as dynamic as we normally think of Perez

Let me qualify my original statement. The early Perez art was raw and needed a lot of help by The likes of Vinnie Colletta and Sam Grianger The Mcfarlane swipe looks like the early bad Perez stuff.

Personally, I've always liked the simplicity of Perez's early work on the Avengers. Colletta wasn't a good fit for his style, though, IMO.

needed a lot of help by The likes of Vinnie Colletta That's the kind of "help" the mob gives people by providing them with new cement shoes.
