Just for FunI was watching Batman on DVD today and I watch an episode (or two) on a yearly basis and I was watching Batman battling King Tut in "Batman's Waterloo" (of which Lee Meriweather was on playing Lisa Carson) and was thinking about the 3rd Season of Batman of which they had Eartha Kitt as Catwoman. I was thinking about Lee Meriweather and she played Catwoman in the full length Batman Movie back in 1966 and wondering why they didn't use her instead of Eartha Kitt. So, to make this interesting who would you prefer to play Catwoman in the 3rd Season in Batman? To make this conversation interesting ... you can offer your own personal choice! I would like to see Lee Meriweather played Catwoman in the 3rd Season in Batman. But, I have no problems with Eartha Kitt and having said that - I can go either way with Lee and Eartha. Too bad, Julie wasn't around she had to do a western movie called MacKenna Gold - I've believe.

Newmar has claimed on several occasions that she left because she was not pleased with how she was being treated. She was an active feminist in an industry that wasn't ready to deal with empowered women on their own terms yet. And she was always my favorite. I adore Eartha Kitt, but not as Catwoman.  |

I'd be fine with the current catwoman from the Gotham series. She's perfect for young girl viewers : cute, powerfull, self-affirmed, and still a little frail. And she's got a very magnetic presence. Her acting still could be more nuanced, but hey, she's a kid in an adult's world.

Lee Meriwether was co-starring in Irwin Allen's The Time Tunnel on a different network that year so likely wasn't available. I like Eartha's version but Julie Newmar gave the character both a strength *and* a vulnerability the other two ladies lacked (Lee had the vulnerability, Eartha the strength, but...).

No doubt, Julie Newmar. She was sexy, confident, and clearly got Batman's motor going, haha! One of my favorite interactions on the show between Catwoman and Batman was something along these lines: Catwoman was trying to convince Batman to run off with her and Batman said, "What about Robin?". Without missing a beat, Catwoman replied, "We'll kill him."
Great costume, casting, and portrayal of a classic character. Wish they'd incorporate those characteristics in the current version of Catwoman.

I'll take Lee. Her performance in the movie is my favorite portrayal of Catwoman ever. It's close, but Julie in second and Eartha in third. In the Batman '66 comic series, any one of them could show up as Catwoman for the story and Batman and Robin would react as if everything were normal.  |

I'm a Julie Newmar guy all the way
So much so in fact that I always say Eartha Kitt's Catwoman was a successor to Julie Newmar's character rather than just a different actress playing the same role
This was emphasized to me by the fact that Eartha's Catwoman didn't seem to have any of the romantic interest in Batman that Julie always showed.
I always wanted to see Julie and Eartha's Catwomen go head to head in a battle for the name.
Maybe if the series had gone to a fourth Season, an episode would have seen such a battle with Julie's Catwoman reform and save Batman from eartha's and becoming a new regular ally to the Bat-Family as Robin goes off to college
