While not originally published by Dark Horse, are you intending to review the adaptation of the original film by Archie Goodwin and Walt Simonson put out by Heavy Metal? It's a great book, and since it's an adaptation of the original film there's nothing contradictory to it in the later Dark Horse stories.

BTW, I will probably follow Confessors grill of reviewing if that's alright with him, at least in the begining?

That sucker has been on my wants list for ages. It's an awesome book, Simonson's space scenes are particularly amazing. And yes Arthur, while it doesn't bring much new to Aliens than the film(as you mentioned in your post) I still think it would be a great way to open your thread but I'll love reading your posts here either way as the Aliens comics are some of my favorites.

Grill? Grill of analysis of course, hahaha! Never heard that phrase before. I mean, I know that the word grill means to interrogate, question or torture, but I've never heard of it being used like that. You mean borrowing my style of analysis, I guess. Anyway, yes...feel free!

I have to come back and edit it each time...

I can't say I've noticed a problem with this. Do you have the BBCode edit window set as your default? By that I mean, when you hit the "Quote" button do you get the BBCode edit window open up or do you get the Preview one instead? You can change the default setting for this in your profile setting, I believe. Having the latter is much easier to use and may solve your problem. If that doesn't help, it might be worth posting something about your issue over in the Help Desk forum... classiccomics.boards.net/board/3/help-desk-announcements

I suggest going to your profile, click "Edit profile", navigate to the "Settings" tab, and change the "Posting Default" from Preview to BBCode. Try it and see if that helps. If not, you can always change it back and then post something over at the Help Desk.

That sucker has been on my wants list for ages. I think it's been on my want list at Lone Star for however long I've been using them ... 10 years or so. I did see that it was reprinted in 2012 and has two printings which they have available.

But yeah, I have the same feeling too. Some things just aren't the same reprinted.

The Walt Simonson/Archie Goodwin Alien film adaptation (1979) is unquestionably one of the best comic book film adaptations I've seen. Superb WS art, and this even includes some scenes that weren't in the film itself (that I believe may have been filmed, but deleted from the original print). I actually think this complements the original film - instead of just being a by-the-numbers adaptation (as many others are). Note this was reprinted in 2012 in a oversized Trade, and that reprint is well worth getting (if you don't have the original).
Haven't read many of the Alien Dark Horse comics from the '90's-on, but I do remember when these were out. I believe that some of the "Alien vs. Predator" DH comics partially inspired the two 200X Alien vs. Predator films (2004 & 2007-ish). Though, I know the original inspiration for the Aliens/Predator war was that scene at the finale of Predator 2 (1990) when Danny Glover went into that Predator ship & saw the Alien skeletons, etc.
