I'm looking at the 154 million that X-men made at the box office ( it cost 178 to make) and wondering what other films really bombed over the years?

Luckily it more than made its money back on DVD and various streaming services. Urban has said that there were talks of a sequel recently (though he has clarified that it's not actively in development).

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows made $80 million domestically against a $135 million budget.
As I wrote in the X-Men film thread, I think Apocalypse has done solidly when you take into account its $373 million overseas take. I hope it gets a sequel.
American action films that have mediocre U.S. box office are often still well-positioned to make money nowadays because of the increasing number of non-Americans (especially Chinese) who are seeing American movies. This doesn't seem to help dramas or comedies nearly as much as movies with big explosions.

True, but its publicity budget is said to have been astronomical... Plus its real price tag was re-evaluated at 300+ millions. (I liked that film, dammit!)
