Image Comics when it came out. I bought some of the early stuff later in the cheap boxes & most of of it was bad. But there were a few series I liked enough to try later Image titles. And I'm glad I did. The later Image stuff was much better. I may have never read The Authority or Moore's Supreme...or even Millar's latest series "Huck".

Preacher. I was upset that Ennis and Dillon had left Hellblazer, and when my LCS owner said "Oh, this new book is great! It's HYPER-violent!" I decided to pass.
Having later read the second trade paperback, I became a rabid fan.

There's plenty of stuff I passed on and got into later, but none I can think of that I refused to buy. I just can't buy everything...

Are there any comic books that you refused to buy when they came out but later changed your mind and became a fan of? after about 30 issues of Tomb of Dracula, I finally broke down and started buying it for the Colan/Palmer art and decided the stories were pretty good too. Did the exact same thing!

Boy, was I wrong to dismiss this, at the comic shop. This particular issue had almost no dialogue, which put my barely teen self, off.

The Goon by Eric Powell
I don't know why I passed these up when they were released, probably because I was already buying too much at the time I'm getting the Library Editions from the Library (makes sense) published by Dark Horse. These are huge items collecting about 12 issues at a time plus supplements. I'm up to Volume 3 now and Volume 4 comes out in October
Beautiful art, a wicked sense of humor, great stuff

The Legion of Super-Heroes for me. Back in the 1980's, a kid in my neighborhood was really into them, and he gave me a couple issues to read. One of the issues was "An Eye for an Eye", the death of Karate Kid. It didn't do anything for me. I actually thought the Legion were a bit lame, to be honest. But I was a diehard X-Men brat back then. Fast forward to a couple of years ago: I read The Great Darkness Saga. And it was mind-blowing. And it wasn't even the Darkseid surprise that got me either. The characters completely captivated me this time around. They stuck with me long after I read the story, and I began to seek out older issues of Legion from Superboy all the way up to the 3rd series. I also snagged the C-55 treasury, one of my favorites: I've since re-read "An Eye for an Eye". It really is an awesome story. It took a while, but I finally got it. How could I have missed a scene this epic!

Superboy and the Legion of Super Heroes Treasury Edition C-55 was one of the few DC comics published in Spain. It came out in 1979, and I remember it fondly, although I don't actually recall any sequence at all.

The IDW Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series.
Not out of loyalty to the Eastman & Laird books or anything, I've just never been a TMNT fan in the slightest and even though I was hearing a lot of people bigging it up, I just wasn't interested in it - "It's the bloody Ninja Turtles, what's there to love about it?"
I was a fool. I was a damn, damn fool. I like it so much that I'm going to go back and check out the Eastman & Laird books as well at some point.

I loved those oversized Treasury Editions published by DC & Marvel. i don't know about the original, but the format of the Spanish edition, was the main factor in my mother buying it for me. It wasn't a floppy, but bookshelf material (paperback). I guess that Superman on the cover, and she liking Christopher Reeve, also played a part.
