Teen Titans #20 (April 1969)
I agree with Infantino that this story was so bad, that I returned it back to the store a month later to be sold for 4 cents because that was the going price back then when I brought it. At that time, I just can't stand Jericho as a character. Sorry Shax, this was the worst story in Teen Titans History of all the stories that I read back then. I didn't read every issue - but this ranked Number #1 in my book.

And "Jericho" wasn't a character in the rewritten story; "Joshua" was.

Teen Titans #21 (June 1969)
I read this story too and Hawk and Dove were very interesting character and this book was very significant as you say that this is the first meeting of Hawk and Dove and the Titans ... I enjoyed these characters and they brought new life into the Titans and therefore allows the Teen Titans to expand into two groups; Titans East and Titans West. Good Call on the part of DC Comics. I loved this story too.

I wonder if we would have got the 'New' Teen Titans with Wolfman/Adams instead of Wolfman/Perez if DC didn't change stream? Or maybe not at all? One wonders if Wolfman had some of those stories already in mind, or if he's just recycling names because he likes them, or even to prove a point.

I am going to re-read issues 20-22 soon in the omnibus. My originals are stored away in a box. I remember first reading these stories reprinted in the 80s New Teen Titans digest. From what I remember, these 3 issues seemed like the goofy (but fun) kind of stories were giving way to more mature and a bit violent themes (exceptions being issues 23 and 24). What I liked about the inclusion of Hawk and Dove (and soon Mal and Lilith) was the expansion of the Titans's ranks--along with Speedy becoming a member.

The GCD is simply wrong (as, I'm rapidly learning, it frequently is). Those are Cardy's inks over Adams. Can't recall where I read the interview with Cardy where he talked about this issue but I do remember reading it.
Cei-U! I summon the correction!

shaxper, great job as always with these latest two reviews. Love the quality of your commentary! I noticed an odd little coincidence between the Hawk and Dove's crossover into the Titans' book and a similar trick used by Murray Boltinoff just a couple of years earlier. Now I wonder if Giordano had done some background reading in Boltinoff's books. I'd write about it here, but it's part of the next comic Lover's mmeories. Trying to finish it and post over the weekend. Damn you, real life! PS: While you have extra time with your student teacher, Shax, I have less b/c I was called out of retirement in April to fill in for a rehabbing colleague till school ends in late June.

If I'd known we could draft you out of retirement Leonard McCoy style, I'd have done it years ago to get you as a co-teacher!

That's why every page has a link at the bottom to an error reporting tool. If you see something that looks wrong, please report it.

I summon the 25-hour day! Reminds me of a cartoon I saw once - might've been Far Side - God is going thru his suggestion box: "not enough hours in the day; not enough hours in the day; not enough hours in the day - well, I guess I know what to change in the next version."
