Is she going to somehow bypass World War II in this version, though? I seem to remember they mentioning, in BvS, that she disappeared after WWI, so yeah. The WWI setting is a bit problematic though in that unlike WWII it isn't as easily seen after all these years as an obvious good vs evil scenario. I would have thought the consensus by now is that it was a completely unnecessary war that should never have happened and for which all sides bear roughly equal blame. Using your superpowers to fight evil Nazis is one thing, but using them to fight anyone at all just because your boyfriend's on the other side doesn't seem too superheroic from this perspective. Do we know she's going to be fighting alongside any army of men? Trevor aside, it could be a fight of amazons versus men.

I was wondering about that as I watched the preview and I hope you're right: maybe it's WW fighting the armies of "man's world" in general, whether they be on the side of the Allied or of the Central Powers. But I'm afraid this feels a little unlikely given the character's history and the nature of this kind of movie. Also I thought the helmets of WW's adversaries looked like they were meant to be German soldiers, but I'm no expert so I could well be wrong there.

We do see Trevor and her, fighting Germans, but on the island, we also see amazons fighting what looks like english troops. Maybe that one is just the initial squirmish. I get the feeling the Germans will be the bad ones.

It should be the Turks, since Themyscira is probably somewhere in the Aegean, but I guess Germans are more easily recognizable as Bad Guys by the public. (Although Erdoǧan is doing his best to change that these days).

I thought DC's Themyscira wasn't meant to be on earth, in the same way that Olympia isn't meant to be on the top of earth's Mount Olympus - but maybe that was just an unwarranted assumption on my part. I haven't actually read that much WW, though a couple issues from the late 60s were among the first comics I remember reading.

It's on Earth, just hard to get to and although I can't remember if it was ever mentioned as being in the Aegean sea I always thought it should.

I googled it a little, and apparently "Themyscira location" is a very common request! Here it confirms that it's in the Aegean, but that like Marvel's Attilan it has had several contradicting locations over the years.

I'll take the angry rant of a laid off employee with a grain of salt...then again I also try to take trailers (especially from WB recently) with a grain of salt. In the end, I know I'll be going, so I guess it's moot.
