I wonder, do Americans even know jelly babies? Or seen them outside Doctor Who? They aren't anything like jelly beans, but they are like gummy bears or ju-jubes... Tom Baker was the one always offering some hissing suction-cupped visitor from space one from a crumbled brown paper sack. It was such a great mundane touch amidst the outlandish! Listen at your own risk:

They have always been hard to find here but I remember a comic shop sold them when I was a kid, and you could find them at conventions of course.
When I was older I found a place that specialized in British foods and other novelties, that had them. I remember venturing there (it was a bit of a drive) just to get them so we could eat them during the 1996 TV movie (hey, it was an event!)

There was also one scene where the Doctor tells some aliens a jelly baby is the most dangerous temperamental substance in the universe and could decimate half a planet or somesuch, and the bluff works at least for awhile. He disarms it by eating it I think!

I've had them numerous times. Little too sweet for me, do like the Black Currant ones
More of a Licorice All-Sorts person honestly

I only had interest in the two cybermen episodes in the latest season.
I'm not too happy with the quality of the rest of the episodes, with the exception of maybe Demons in the Punjab and the New Year's special with spongebob Dalek.

In The Face of Evil "Drop your weapons or I'll kill him with this deadly jelly baby" That's still more than poor old Marvin was provided with to face down a Frogstar battle machine.

He disarms it by eating it I think! Because I loved this scene as a kid my love for Tom Baker only grew by leaps and bounds when I discovered years later just how it came about. The script originally called for The Doctor to hold the aliens at gun point and force them to do as he says. Baker refused to say the line believing that a children's hero shouldn't behave so brutishly. "Well then come up with something yourself" - hence the quickly improvised line from the star.

I was initially excited by the whole Timelord Victorious idea...but it's just too massive to really follow, especially as a fan from the States.

I was initially excited by the whole Timelord Victorious idea...but it's just too massive to really follow, especially as a fan from the States. I like the concept of this event crossing over different mediums. The release schedule is a bit timey-wimey since a huge chunk of it isn't scheduled until December. However, I haven't had that much difficulty in tracking down the parts already released. Titan Comics' two part mini-series which kinda serves as the kickoff for this event is available on Comixology. I acquired the DWM issue that covers the event (and gives you a handy release schedule for it) and also included the bonus comic strip part that is the Ninth's Doctor first section off of eBay. The first novel of the event, The Knight, The Fool and The Dead by Stephen Cole is available on Kindle. So far, I've liked it especially the novel. The Tenth Doctor becomes more committed to his role as Time Lord Victorious but it ends on a cliffhanger. The following release of the Eighth & Ninth's Doctor sections will apparently lead up to that cliffhanger which will then be resolved by the next novel All Flesh is Grass by McCormack. My only concern at the moment is possibly acquiring the Eight Doctor's portion of this event which is all on Big Finish audio. On a side-note, I was completely surprised to see the other night that TCM aired both of Peter Cushing's Doctor Who films! Fortunately I caught it in time to record both for I have never seen either of them. Plus, it makes me wonder, does the end of Whitaker's last season mean that the Peter Cushing Doctor is now legit?

"Daleks!" The Archive of Islos" Episode 01 The Daleks begin their bombardment on the Archive of Islos but what is the valuable secret it holds, and why are the Daleks after it, and what surprises do the Archivians have in store for them?I'm not following the Time Lord Victorious series in other media but was excited when I saw that the Daleks were getting their own mini series. In fact I will probably make a YouTube playlist to rewatch them all in order later. This episode begins with the Daleks all out blitzkrieg demanding that the Archivians surrender the Archive. I wish the CGI team had more time and budget to render some of the effects but overall I enjoyed this little story and the twist at the end left me wanting to see what happens next. I'm also not sure how this fits into the other media and if anything will be lost by not keeping up with this massive multi-platform story arc.
