Scorpions?? In Florida?? Really?! Huh. You learn something new every day. I lived in Florida until a couple years ago, and of all the numerous critters you need to be wary of scorpions are a new one to me. I've had a few long boxes and short boxes and for a while just a regular box I stacked comics in, and the only creep-crawlies I remember were silver fish. Maybe the odd cockroach.
I'd be much more wary of spiders, snakes, mosquitos, fire ants, and gators than I would scorpions. SCORPIONS?!?! For real?
By the way, if you need a comic shop, I cannot recommend Coliseum of Comics highly enough. Been a customer for 15 years. I still sub although I'm out of state - they offer a mail service for subs. I don't recall if there is a Melbourne location, but I think there is one in Sanford which is pretty close. Not sure if that's local for where you will be, but if it's logistically feasible consider them!

Far, far more common than scorpions, and easy to step into their mounds without realizing it. When I was in Florida there were occasional news reports of children or the elderly accidentally falling into a mound and either being seriously injured or killed. And there's a great comics shop in Sanford now? I lived in Winter Springs, which is practically next door to Sanford, and would have loved to see that when I was there. All I had as a kid was convenience stores.
