How could marvel have changed any of those? Especially #56! "Hear me, world!" Really? Talk about your bargain-basement villain-speak. I love that Marvel Tales cover! I think that it's way superior to the "Spidey reflected in the glasses" original of ASM #56. Yeah, the dialogue is corny, but no worse than many, many other Silver or Bronze Age Marvel covers. |

Not strictly in keeping with the precise nature of the thread, but I thought it might be of interes: Marvel UK reprinted much of the Silver Age material in teir black and white weekly reprint anthologies in the 1970s, but by the early 180s were starting to reprint some of it for a second time as they assumed most of their original readership would have moved on by then to be replaced by newer readers. Below is a cover from a 1974 issue of Mighty World of Marvel, featuring a cover image from Incredible Hulk #127 (May 1970)...  ...and here, an issue of The Incredible Hulk weekly from 1982. There are subtle differences in the image (as well as a very unsubtle price rise).  |
