We recently added the Paramount streaming service when most of our services were up for renewal and we switched some things up and got rid of cable. Mrs MRP watches some stuff on CBS (news, Colbert, a handful of shows) so we added this, and I have been dipping into the new Trek content. I watched the first season of Picard and the first episode of Strange New Worlds, and I liked both quite a bit. I had watched the first season of Discovery when it first came out, so I will probably skip a rewatch, but will likely end up going through seasons 2-4. I hadn't watched much Trek in a few years, but the mood to finally watch Picard hit me just before we added Paramount, and I had requested it from our library on DVD. Between the time I requested it and it was available, we had gotten Paramount.
If there was discussion of these here, I mostly missed it, but I was thoroughly entertained and invested in Picard, and think Strange New Worlds got off to a good start.

I kind of forgot about the Picard show too. I might try that one, since I like the character and haven't heard anything o it to turn me away.

I felt the same when Paramount announced all of these Star Trek projects. Could one have too much of a good thing? But my fears have been allayed with what I’ve seen, although I feel Obi-Wan Kenobi would have worked better as a 90-minute movie. However, I am pleased that we have all these projects on the go, and I look forward to many more. Wouldn’t mind a Starfleet Marine Corps series, though.

Discovery and Picard's season long story lines are a little tiring pacing wise at times but I really like the characters so they're both enjoyable watches. Strange New Worlds though? That just might be my favorite Trek show ever.

Finished the first season of Strange New Worlds. That final episode is a killer. But perhaps my favorite thing in this show is the dynamic between Chapel and Spock. Quite looking forward to the second season.

I was able to get the 1st 2 seasons of Discovery and the first Picard one from the library.. I posted a bit. I loved Riker and Troi's daughter! Discovery was OK... I vaguely plan to swap over to paramount when I'll all caught up with DIsney at some point soon.

I vaguely plan to swap over to paramount when I'll all caught up with DIsney at some point soon. If I become a billionaire, I’ll buy both Disney and Paramount, so you won’t have to do that. Seriously, I’m thinking of doing the same. A few Fox TV shows aside, I have watched a lot of Disney+. I know leaving it would mean missing out on things (do shows such as The Book of Boba Fett even get home video releases?), but Paramount+ is “calling to me”. Would be nice to have all Trek-related things in one place.

Question: would a Starfleet Marine Corps series interest anyone?
I probably would be as it’d be something different. I gather they’ve only featured in novels (I saw a mention of them on Wikipedia). I’m certainly intrigued.

I’m certainly intrigued. I wouldn't mind a MACO series set during Enterprise's time, I mean we sort of got a similar show to what I'd imagine it would be like in Battlestar Galactica but seeing a proper Star Trek version could be cool.

My family had some great encounters today with some classic Trek stars at a convention.
We met Gates McFadden who was very nice, and my wife and her also chatted for awhile about her work on Labyrinth. She said filming the 3rd season of Picard had been really enjoyable and you could tell the camaraderie with her old castmates from Next Generation was real. Then we met Jonathan Frakes, he's just so down to earth and cool to chat with. It was so fun, since we had the whole family there he made a point to come out of his booth and gather us up close for some pictures. And then the one and only Mr. William Shatner, it was just a quick meet and photo, but totally a memory of a lifetime. And he was very nice as well! I also have to say he looks absolutely amazing and sounded great, I cannot believe he is 91, you would never guess it if you didn't already know.

@jaska was this at GalaxyCon in Columbus? -M Yes, the kids really wanted to go, so we ended up buying tickets. I thought I was just going to go off and look for comic book vendors, but the lines weren't bad at all with most of the guests and we ended up making the rounds with the celebrities today.

I watched the pilot of Enterprise last night (glad Trek is still on Netflix, but I suspect it’ll all migrate away soon?).
I think it’s better than the pilots for TNG, DS9 and Voyager, but it hardly set my world alight. It was solid at least, and I liked how it established human/Vulcan relations. All the characters were credible.
I haven’t seen the rest of the series (I watched the pilot on VHS years ago), so this is as good a time as any. No spoilers, please, but are they going to explain the look of the Klingons because given this is set 100 years before Kirk’s time, and Klingons looked different in TOS, I’d like to think this won’t be glossed over?
