Personally, I think three seasons of the original series, one season of the animated, and seven seasons of Next Gen and DS9 are all the Trek I'll ever need. If they bring Trek back to TV, it will inevitably have a very different vibe behind it. I'm happy with what we've been given. There's definitely enough out there to satiate most needs but I'd still love to see more; it's just a great vehicle for great science fiction.

Isn't there some semi-licensed amateur series running on the web right now? I've heard good things about it but can't remember the name. Star Trek continues is the best of the lot. Truly amazing. They even have the son of James Doohan playing Scotty. The scripts for the three episodes done as of now would rank among the top 25% of the original shows.

So this came up in my review of Wizard Magazine #9: Now being sold to local television stations around the country is Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. This series will take place 100 years after The Next Generation (the same way TNG takes place 78 years after the original show) and will feature the crew of a space station that sits near a wormhole, instead of following the crew of a starship.

The episode The Child is eerily reminiscent of Avengers #200....

I'm enjoying it, but can definitely see the reasons they couldn't do that script as an episode.

I've never seen the animated series - how good is it? I didn't realise it was rated so highly by some fans. Did some of the original actors do the voices?

Star Trek the animated series is fun and all the voice actors returned except for Walter Koenig.

What I loved most about the Animated Series was that it opened up the possibilities more. You could have weirder aliens, complicated technology, and settings that didn't all look like the same rocky planet each episode. And it had the same writers as the original series, so you didn't lose much in the move over.

My roommate and I have been going through this list. We started at #21 and have been working our way down to #1. #11 is next. The top 21 are all from the original three series. (21 was chosen literally at random; in hindsight 30 would have given more variety in terms of series). io9.com/the-top-100-star-trek-episodes-of-all-time-1641565699On the whole, I find the list solid. I know what my #1 TOS episode is and they have it in the top then and what my top 4 TNG episodes are, and they are all in the top 20, so I can't say I disagree too much. I have no idea what my favorite DS9 episode is. But their top two are excellent contenders.

I remember DS9 in arcs better than stories for the most part, so it would be underrepresented on my list. Additionally, there are still a few TOS episodes I've never seen, as well as quite a few I've only seen once.
I think I might start assembling my own list (and I'd be very curious to see yours), but it will likely weigh heavily in Next Gen's favor for the reasons listed above.
