Well, we already had the discussion, and the decision has been made, so no further need to discuss.
We'll try this, and if it begins to look like its inhibiting the flow of conversation or causing other negative consequences, I'll be very open to undoing it. It's actually much easier to condense two threads than it is to divide one.
For now, though, assume this is the direction we are moving in.

Thanks for doing this Shaxper, as well as everything else that you do here. We appreciate your efforts at making this a great place for us.

As long as we can continue to talk about comics in the threads that were moved I don't see a problem. The Star Wars thread for example was made specifically to talk about the comics. Although conversations about the films and new movie news are certainly welcome there. The Doctor Who and Star Trek threads also mention comics in the OP. I'm surprised a few of the Archie threads made it into the general discussion area. Seems like might be difficult to decide what goes where actually.

I wondered what was happening. I thought my posts were being deleted.

Comics can certainly be discussed in those, but the conversation is much broader than just comics, nor just classic comics. There are some pretty good Doctor Who and Star Trek comics being published right now. They were both in regard to The Death of Archie, a comic that hit stands this month.

Interesting consequence of the big move: we now have more discussion happening in the classic comics section. When I first separated the forums, the first page was showing threads that hadn't been updated in four days. Now the oldest threads on page 1 are less than 36 hours old.

As someone who thought it would be a bad idea, I must admit I'm glad to see I seem to have been wrong.

Very nice. One thing that might bridge the gap and provide best of both worlds... back at CBR I had my subscribed threads I used to follow, but sometimes they got slow or I was in the mood for something else. Queue the New Posts button. I'm not sure if anyone else here used it, but it shows you all threads from all categories in one bucket sorted by the most recently updated. It was a really good way to find out what the hot topics were, and I found many great threads that way. Is there any way to implement something like that? I know I would use it all the time.

There's a thing at the top right of thr forums on the main forum page called Participated that may be what you're talking about.

I do use that, and it's a good way to track threads you've already commented on, but it doesn't help you find stuff you haven't. Thank you, though!
