More along the lines of MRP's thinking, how many times have we seen "The Most Dangerous Game" redone as a comics story?

The evil space church story by Starlin? Not only is it retold, it's retold by the same guy... over and over and over...

At this point, any dark alternate future story rips off Days of Future Past in some regard or another.

The evil space church story by Starlin? In that vein, I was reading Starlin's Stormwatch (still had it on pull from Cornell/Milligan) and came to the point where Stormwatch had to ally with an alien warlord to defeat a greater threat. And the alien warlord is called "Extremax the Omega" (who obviously is stocky in build, cosmically powered, immortal etc.). At which point I called my shop to say that they could drop it from my list.

I think I've seen Luthor's hair fall out from a lab experiment and blame Superboy 300 times.

I think I've seen Luthor's hair fall out from a lab experiment and blame Superboy 300 times. But that's Luthor's origin. If only they'd had the hair club back then.

My first thought was the FF's origin.

After origin scenes must come death scenes. Maybe not an entire story, but we've surely seen Bucky die a billion times. I couldn't begin to count how many times Spider-Man has stood on top of a bridge and flashed back to Gwen's death. See also Jason Todd.
