Most of the comics I'm reading at the moment are Marvels from 1982.

I don't read DC comics, and have only read a handful of Superman comics back in the 90s. I didn't enjoy them. Tried hard, but not for me, I guess. Yet, I tend to love the DC tv shows. Running 1988-1992 this syndicated action show is basically Superman under another name (for legal reasons connected to the films). It only runs a half-hour an episode, and the budget is very low, but (after a terrible start) the show started turning out consistently great stories week-after-week. Often written by DC Comics writers. The best thing about the show is Stacy Haiduk as Lana. She's a gorgeous and terrific actress, and (luckily) Lana was constantly being kidnapped or possessed, or there were alternative versions of her running around. Whatever the excuse, Haiduk was always being given great stuff to play. And she clearly relished it, under the directorship of David Nutter before he went off to do the X-Files (which had a very similar premise to the later seasons of Superboy). Gerard Christopher played SuperboySuperman for the final three seasons. He's my ideal Superman. That's who I picture when I think Superman. Nobody else. He had the look, and projected the innate goodness I always imagine the character to have. I have the whole series on VHS and made my own DVDs long before it was officially released. Now I have the official releases and am watching the series for the third time. Any fans here?

Loved the show! Stacy was beautiful. I thought John Newton was good as Superboy in the first season. I don't remember why he was replaced by Gerald Christopher. I think the series had other changes made for the second season?

I loved it as a kid but have absolutely no memory of it now. Had a subscription to the official comic book and have no memory of those stories either. Lois & Clark, on the other hand...I can talk and talk about Lois & Clark

I think the series had other changes made for the second season? Stories differ online as to why he was replaced. I found him to be okay, but I much preferred GC. They also changed the supporting cast. Really they changed everything except Stacy. And began drawing on the comics more and more to tell stories. Early s1 had been more crime drama, less fantasy. Lois & Clark, on the other hand...I can talk and talk about Lois & Clark Love that show, too. Great series. Had such a crush on Teri back then All these years later, still bummed it didn't get that 5th season. Unlike Superboy I haven't rewatched it, however. Would love to find the time for it again.

Who was the goofy looking TV news anchor (both character & actor)?

Who was the goofy looking TV news anchor (both character & actor)? That's Sherman Howard who played Lex Luthor in seasons 2-4, and wrote an episode of the show. I loved his Lex, and he had a great sidekick. Howard's performance was menacing and hilarious. Larger than life.

No problem remembering beautiful women like Stacy

I remember the show vaguely and I only saw the first season and my local television station decided not to show it anymore. Right now, I can't recall much of it anymore.

Yeah, a guy called Scott Wells played a young LL during season one. But, he was terrible. When they recast, they wrote it into the script explaining why he looked different. This was the same episode where they recast Superboy, but they didn't explain that

Like shaxper I have little memory of this series except for Stacy Haiduk and the end of an episode with Mr. Mxyzptlk.

About the only Superman show I haven't seen...yet.
How can you not love early 90s Superman comics...?

I have vague memories of the show. I remember it coming on cable--I think it was on WGN or a local channel here on Saturday afternoons. Seems like after a season or 2 it wasn't shown here anymore. I would love to re-watch these. May have to order some DVDs!

How can you not love early 90s Superman comics...? I dunno. Reading them was just proving to be a chore. I read a run of about 20 I think and give up mid-way through a story. Just lost interest. My experiences with DC have rarely been good. I've never read a Batman, by the way, but I read and love the Flash for years. Loved that series, under Mark Waid.

I think the series had other changes made for the second season? I met John Newton at a Con once and he confirmed the story that he was fired cause of him being caught by police driving under the influence. I also liked him. I personally liked him over Gerald Christopher. I also met the actor that played JT White in the first season. He admitted that he was also fired, but he didn't know why.
