Re: pop music mentioned in comic books, I think one of the reasons it may not happen to often is probably because of licensing issues?! In any case, there was an old issue of Shang Chi, Master of Kung Fu in which the characters are listening to Fleetwood Mac's classic '70's album, Rumours. Here's a link; the FW reference/panel is shown halfway down this page: filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?pageID=6&forumID=7&threadID=71745&archive=0Oooh, looks like a great thread. Thanks. Huge fan of MoKF. Maybe the best book of the 70s, for me. Actually, though some may disagree with me - I attest that Shang Chi, Master of Kung Fu is the best comic book series of all time & Gene Day's run (during the latter part of the title) is the best artistic run on any comic series, ever. I got the first Omni reprinting the series this past summer, and am looking forward to the next three Omnis (the 2nd one is scheduled to be released soon). Glad Marvel got the licensing issues straightened out, since for a long time it looked like the title would never be reprinted. I didn't have any interest in tracking down the original floppies (too much trouble & too expensive), and these Omnis are better than the floppies, anyway - due to the remastered color & high quality paper. Also looking forward to the Deadly Hands of Kung Fu Omnis; I never read that b&w mag. back in the day, and apparently the back issues are extremely HTF & expensive these days.

Don Perlin somehow wound up as doing more issues of the JOHNNY BLAZE series than anybody. Which was not a bad thing, but I wish most of them hadn't been written by Mike Fleisher, who bored the HELL out of me and then kept going and going and going. What I really wish is that Don Perlin had done a long, long run on... MOON KNIGHT.
